Every Wed. we pray and fast for one another for resolution to our marriages and our lives. Every Wed. we can check in and let our fellow prayer warriors know we have prayed for the group. Prayer does mighty things and group prayer is even better. "For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst." Matt 18:20.

I will be entering the prayer post on Sundays so everyone has an opportunity to check in and to add their own personal prayer request if they want to/need to. Then on Wed. we can check in, hit the "Post Reply" button, and enter "Amen".

I think it will be great to see how God works in our lives and heals our marriages and us. If you want to pray with us I will be more than happy to add your name to the list below.

The Power of a Praying Wife

Chapter Twenty-Six – His Deliverance

Melissa was concerned about her husband’s attraction to alcohol. Mark wasn’t exactly an alcoholic, but he was exhibiting symptoms reminiscent of his father, who was an alcoholic. She prayed for a breaking of any similar tendency that may have been passed or not to her husband, and she also prayed that their children would not inherit the weakness either. She asked God to protect them all from even the symptoms of alcoholism. To this day her husband has not become an alcoholic and her teenagers show no signs of it. She feels the power of God in answer to her prayers has played a major part in keeping them from inheriting this condition.

Stephanie had been married to Jason only a short time before she realized he struggled with a spirit of lust. It wasn’t that he didn’t love her. He was dealing with the sins of his past – a promiscuous lifestyle from which he had never thoroughly distanced himself or renounced. Once she recognized it as something he was captive to, she prayed for his deliverance. Because he wanted that, too, it wasn’t long before he was set free from it.

Everyone needs deliverance at certain times, because there are all kinds of things that can pull us into bondage. God knows this. Why would Jesus have come as the deliverer if we didn’t need one? Why would He have instructed us to pray, “deliver us from the evil one” (Matthew 6:13) if we didn’t need to be? Why does he promise to deliver us from temptation (2 Peter 2:9), the clutches of dangerous people (Psalm 140:1), our self-destructive tendency (Proverbs 24:11), all of our troubles (Psalm 34:17), and death (2 Corinthians 1:10), if he doesn’t intend to do it? He is ready and willing. We just have to ask. “Call upon me on the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me” (Psalm 50:15).

Isn’t it comforting to know that when we feel imprisoned by the death grip of our circumstances, God hears our cries for freedom? He sees our need. “He looked down from the high of his sanctuary; from heaven the Lord viewed the earth, to hear the groaning of the prisoner, to release those appointed to death” (Psalm 102:19,20). How glorious to embrace the certainty that when there seems to be no way out, God can miraculously lift us up and away from whatever is seeking to devour us (Psalm 25:15). Who doesn’t need that?

Even if you husband finds it difficult to admit, he needs help – some men feel like failures if they can’t do it all themselves – your prayers can still be instrumental in his finding deliverance. You can pray to the Deliverer to set him free from anything that binds him. You can stand strong, through your prayers, against the enemy who seeks to put him into bondage. “Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage” (Galatians 5:1). The best way I know to stand strong is to put on the whole armor of God. That’s the way I pray for myself and my husband, and I have found it to be most effective. Rather than explain it, let me show you how to pray.

PRAYER

Lord, You have said to call upon You in the day of trouble and you will deliver us (Psalm 50:15). I call upon You now and ask that you would work deliverance in my husband’s life. Deliver him from anything that binds him. Set him free from (name a specific thing). Deliver him quickly and be a rock of refuge and a fortress of defense to save him (Psalm 31:2). Lift him away from the hands of the enemy (Psalm 31:15). Bring him to a place of understanding where he can recognize the work of evil and cry out to You for help. If the deliverance he prays for isn’t immediate, keep him from discouragement and help him to be confident that You have begun a good work in him and will complete it (Philippians 1:6). Give him the certainty that even in his most hopeless state, when he finds it impossible to change anything, You, Lord, can change everything.

Help him understand that “we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places” (Ephesians 6:12). I pray the he will be strong in the Lord and put on the whole armor of God, so he can stand against the wiles of the devil in the evil day. Help him to gird his waist with truth and put on the breastplate of righteousness, having shod his feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace. Enable him to take up the shield of faith, with which to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. I pray that he will take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit, which is the Word of God, praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful and standing strong to the end (Ephesians 6:13-18). AMEN!

I am praying with (and for) you all.

Something to add to the praise list. While things between my wife and myself are still not repaired after my PA (nor do I expect them to be any time soon), God has chosen this time to bring another manifestation of love into our lives. If all goes well, in February we shall be first-time parents! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />

Please pray that the pregnancy proceeds without any significant problems, and that I may be worthy of my roles as husband, and father.

Richard,

CONGRATULATIONS! PTL! I am so happy for you! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />

Lord, please help all those on this board struggling with the hurt of a broken marriage. Please show them that You are with them always & that nothing happens w/o You turning it around for the greater good. Please help them realize, be at peace, with the fact that no trial is faced w/o a lesson to be learned & that although we walk through that dark valley, we are never alone. You will help us through it, onto the side of light. Help all of us to be a beacon of that light, allowing Jesus to shine through us & around us. Let us be an example of how Jesus loved us, so let us show the world His love through our actions & our words.

In everything, we give Your name praise & know that we can do nothing, be nothing w/o Jesus Christ as our guide, our Lord & Savior, praying through Him to get to You, Father.

In His name I pray, Amen.
