Every Wed. we pray and fast for one another for resolution to our marriages and our lives. Every Wed. we can check in and let our fellow prayer warriors know we have prayed for the group. Prayer does mighty things and group prayer is even better. "For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst." Matt 18:20.

I will be entering the prayer post on Sundays so everyone has an opportunity to check in and to add their own personal prayer request if they want to/need to. Then on Wed. we can check in, hit the "Post Reply" button, and enter "Amen".

I think it will be great to see how God works in our lives and heals our marriages and us. If you want to pray with us I will be more than happy to add your name to the list below.

The Power of Praying Wife

Chapter Twenty-Five - His Repentance

Suzanne prayed everyday for years that her husband Jerry would stop using drugs. Over and over she caught him doing the same thing. Each time he would confess it, say he was sorry, and swear he wasn't going to do it again. But time and again he fell. She never gave up praying for true repentance to happen in his heart, the kind that turns a man around to walk in a different direction. Unfortunately, Jerry had to learn some hard and painful lessons before God got his attention, but eventually there was a life changing transformation. Today he is a new man, and together with Suzanne he has a public ministry helping people with similar problems. Suzanne was a praying wife who never stopped believing that God would bring her husband to repentance.

Everyone makes mistakes. That's not the issue. But there is an epidemic in the world today of people who can't admit they did something wrong. God says, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all our unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9). But first we have to be sorry about what we have done.

According to God's way of doing things, there are three steps of changing our behavior. First there is confession, which is admitting what we did. Next there is repentance, which is being sorry about what we did. Then there is asking forgiveness, which is being cleansed from what we did. The inability or resistance to do any of these three steps is rooted in pride. A man who can't humble himself he is wrong before God and man will have problems in his life that will never go away. "Do you see a man wise in his own eyes. There is more hope for a fool than for him" (Proverbs 26:12).

Does your husband have trouble confessing his faults? Or is he the kind of person who won't say "I am sorry" twenty times a day, yet the behavior he apologizes for never changes? In either case, he needs a repentant heart. True repentance means having so much remorse over what you've done that you don't do it again. Only God can cause us to see our sin for what it is, and feel about it the same way He does. "The goodness of God leads you to repentance" (Romans 2:4). Repentance is working for God's grace, and we can pray for it to be worked in our husbands.

Too many men have fallen because of pride and the inability to confess and repent. Unconfessed sin doesn't just go away. It becomes a cancer that grows and suffocates life. Pray for you husband to be convicted of his sins, to humbly confess it before God, then turn from his error and cease to do it. God is "not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9). This kind of prayer can be very annoying to the one being prayed for, but it's far easier to have God shine His light upon our sin than it is to experience the consequences of it. Your husband will be thankful in the end, even if he won?t admit it.

PRAYER

Lord, I pray that you would convict my husband of any error in his life. Let there be "nothing covered that will not be revealed, and hidden that will not be known" (Matthew 10:26). Cleanse him from any secret sins and teach him to be a person who is quick to confess when he is wrong (Psalm 19:12). Help him to recognize his mistakes. Give him eyes to see Your truth and ears to hear Your voice. Bring him to full repentance before You. If there is suffering to be done, let it be the suffering of a remorseful heart and not because the crushing hand of the enemy has found an opening in his life through unconfessed sin. Lord, I know that humility must come before honor (Proverbs 15:33). Take away all pride that would cause him to deny his faults and work into his soul and humility of heart so that he will receive the honor that you have for him. AMEN!

Hi adgirl,

A fast doesn't necessarely have to be food. It could be something that you might have a hard time doing without. I know people that fast from TV. However, most people fast from food.

If you do chose to fast be careful at first. You might want to try doing a 12 hour fast first. If that goes ok, you can stretch it out some more.

When I fast I just drink water if it is a 24 hour fast. If I do a three day fast or longer I will add some clear juices (apple or grape). I've been doing the Wed. fast just about every Wed. since cajunky started this thread in Sept 2002. It almost seems weird not to now. Even my co-workers are used to it. They give me strange looks if the see me eat on Wed.

Later'z. Bless you.

Hopeful98,
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE add me to your prayers. I want to reconcile with my H so much it hurts. I pray and think about him everyday and wish he will come home. He left me in November and has cut-off communication ties with me the whole time. He calls every now and then and then left me a message on my phone last Thursday, saying he will be thinking of me. I don't know what that means, but I wish he can give me a second chance. I was too emotional for him (we are newlyweds and married in May), and he is not the type of person who likes to freely talk about things on his mind. Please add me to your list...

What is seeing me through is Matthew 18 and 1 Corinthians 7. He is a religious man and felt he left to take some time off and to help save our marriage. So please add my hubby and I to your prayers so we can move on together.

Thank you and Amen,

I also want to add, that I drank a hot chocolate this morning before reading your message...so that will be the last thing I will eat or drink today (except water). I have been fasting since my husband left, but it was really out of the feeling of not wanting to eat due to depression. I started eating last week for the first time (I probably lost about 10 pounds since he left in November), but I will keep in mind that every Wednesday is fasting day.

Thank you again,

I know it's late but I was there yesterday with ya'll.

GWK, how'z stuff?

adgirl, did you try the fast? How was it? The thing to remember is that God is looking at the heart not always at the result.

Blessing to you all.

Hi all,

I just want to share that God has really been doing a work in my heart. About forgiveness, and judging and other things. He has been showing me that I need to show love to my husband where he is, asking nothing in return.

I am confident that God has things in hand at his end.

Father,

Be with everyone here today, and grow us all in love.

S&C,
The 12 hour fast, as you suggested, went pretty well. I will work my way up. I think I am going to give up chocolate the whole month of February. ex used to tease about how much I ate chocolate.

adgirl,

That's great. I know many people who couldn't last that long. Next time you try to fast after the 12 hours go another 1-2 hours and drink some clear juices to keep you blood sugar up.

Doing without chocolate huh? Brave girl.

Later'z.
