My wife was scheduled for job interview for a great new career opportunity. the interview was scheduled for 3:00 and was located about an hour from our home during rush hour traffic.
She had asked me to leave work early so I could pick up the kids at the babysitters. This way she wouldn't have to worry about being late during the interview.
I could tell she was very stressed out about the upcoming interview. In addition, she had lost one of her favorite rings in the garbage disposal that morning. All in all a pretty tough day.
Rather than just leaving work early to pick up the kids, I took 1/2 the day off. I went home with fresh flowers and took the kids to the babysitter so she could finish dressing and getting ready.
After I returned from dropping off the kids, we just talked and reviewed her game plan for the interview. She left for the interview in a much more relaxed and focused state of mind than would have otherwise been possible. The interview went very well and we are now waiting to see if she gets called back for another interview or an offer.
She said that me coming home with flowers changed the whole course of the day for her and allowed her to have a great interview. The fact that it was one of the first beautiful, sunny, and warm spring days of the year didn't hurt either. Unfortunately, I can't take the credit for that.
