I'm skipping Chapter 6 only because it is hard for me . I seem to feel chap 6 and 7 go together, at least in my situation.
Temptation is a given! But the battle starts in the mind! Don't we all agree.
Page 80 was an attention getter for me. "If he and I are one, then an assault on his mind was an assault on me as well". OK, so is there some responsibility here? In regards to prayer I think so. Lord, I want to stand with My H in the battle.
Next part. Page 83 "By speaking God's word, you can reveal wrong thinking and it will lose its power. If your H won't do it for himself, you can speak the Word of God over him, either in his presence or alone in prayer, and see positive results." My H is not reading his bible. He is going to church (praise God) but that is the only input of Truth taking place. Thank you Lord that You will receive from me power to overcome wrong thinking through Your word for my H.
I'll post more on this Chapter later, but wanted to hear what others are seeing. My H maintains that the reason for the affair is that he took his sight off of God. I worry that if he isn't in the Word the same temptation could just as easily happen again.
Oops, guess my title should of been chap 7

------------------
eyes wide open

[This message has been edited by Taj (edited December 02, 1999).]
[This message has been edited by Taj (edited December 02, 1999).]

I prayed this one aloud with to my H. He fears for his mind. He has hated taking anti-depression meds.
I think the fact that God has given all of us a "sound mind" is something to remember in our turmoil. We aren't crazy, we're just in bad situations.

------------------
Lor
"Do not get tired of doing what is right, for after awhile you will reap a harvest of blessings if you do not get discouraged and give up. Lord, give us clarity in our thinking, give us your mind.
Lord, strengthen our husbands and gird up their minds to think like you.
Lord, purge their minds of sinful memories, deliver them from circular thinking that traps them in sin.
Thank you that you promise us 'we have the mind of Christ'.
Holy Spirit, come into our homes and sweep out the evil thought patterns that effect our family life. Help us to take every thought captive and be controlled in our thinking. Deliver us from false beliefs and give us true peace of mind, your peace.
Amen.
------------------

"I have found the Pearl of Great Price"
This was a very good chapter for me to read. I find myself refering to the prayer over and over again. Arik's lack of commitment and his inability to separate himself from tempting situations involving his OW are a real trail to me. She is still in his yahoo mesenger and he checks it constantly when he is on-line to see if she is there.
He will be returning to work at his old job with daily contact soon and this has me worried. I know that hearing her voice will be a difficult thing for him.
I pray lord for clarity in Arik's mind about what his ultimate goal is. Help him to recognize and overcome tempting situations and help him to remove himself from them.
------------------
Love and Prayers
Nicole
