Lord, Strengthen our husbands to resist the temptations that come before them every day.
By the authority you give us as your children, I pray that you work mightily in our homes and in our husband's lives. To the degree that our lives overlap, our sexuality, our parenting, and our home life, give us victory over the power of evil in our homes.
Where infidelity has broken down communication between our husband and you Lord Jesus, your Holy Spirit, and the loving presence of the Father, we ask Lord for your continuing mercy and irresistable grace to be extended toward our sinful spouses.
Please call them to repentance and deliver them from the temptation to continue in sexual sin.
by the authority that we have in you, deliver our homes and our marriages from the power of seduction and the spirit of infidelity and untruth that binds our husbands. Free them from the tyranny of sin, and call them to your loving presence.
Bless those who struggle here with temptation to seek revenge, temptation to evil and malicious thinking and temptation to punish for the hurts we have endured.
By the power given to me as your child,
I pray in Jesus name, Amen.

I need to explain why I am having a hard time posting on the temptation chapter. It is because temptation in my H's case was so blatant that I cannot fathom a woman stooping so low. He met
the OW where he works out. She set out to get him and ended up pulling up her shirt and exposing her bare chest to him. Well, he took the bait. Good grief! That is above and beyond temptation! In a way I guess for my H it shows it took playing down and dirty to get him to fall. That is why I feel the battle starts in the mind. How can I battle women who don't think anymore of them selves then to degrade themselves by showing their breasts in broad daylight to trap a man.
I know this is a bible study and Im sorry that I needed to share this but I still struggle after all this time with the sheer blatancy of this harlot. And I believe that is exactly what she was.
I truly believe that temptation had to of started long before this scene I've described. God, keep my H from temptation and let it begin when the seed is sown in his mind.
------------------
eyes wide open
Eyes Wide Open
I can relate so much to what you are feeling. My H's OW did not bare her breasts that I am aware of but she chased and chased and chased until I feel my H could not resist anymore. I pray every day for God to help me forgive her and for me to let go of the anger and the hatred I sometimes feel towards her.
With the Lord's help I am just now begining to feel like I am able to compete with her and its not down and dirty like she plays but with unconditional love for my H. I think when it comes right down to it... I will win one of two ways... because I will either have my H back or... I will finally have peace in my heart.
Lord please keep our husbands from temptation! Make them strong enough to resist the evil that comes into there lives. Let them find desire only in their wives, Lord.
In Jesus name, Amen
------------------
morgan

POGP - WOW!! Great prayer. I'm saving this one for future reference. My prayer will have an added paragraph for my husband's temptation to drink too much. I have been praying for several years for my husband to stop drinking. Maybe I've been praying the wrong way about this. It seems like the more I pray about it, the worse he gets. I stopped praying about it about a year ago, which is when he began the worst of his downward spiral, because I was afraid my prayers were making it worse. I should have been praying for the Lord to give him the strength to resist the temptation of drinking as well as to resist the temptations of the OW. Now that I know what was going on, I think I understand that he was drinking more and more to ease his guilt over what he was doing when he was drinking.
Lord, please give my husband the strength he needs to resist the temptation to drink. Deliver him from this sin, Lord, as well as the sin of infidelity. Thank you Lord for all you've done in his life so far. Thank you Lord for what you've done in mine. I pray this in Jesus name, AMEN.

My H's OW existed as temptation for years, as they work together, and unknown to me, socialized as well.
I'd like to teach my H that the best response to temptation is "Get behind me Satan." And I would like to see him stay out of situations that are full of temptation.
POGP, great prayer, thank you.

------------------
Lor
"Do not get tired of doing what is right, for after awhile you will reap a harvest of blessings if you do not get discouraged and give up. "Bless those who struggle here with temptation to seek revenge, temptation to evil and malicious thinking and temptation to punish for the hurts we have endured."
This comment really hit home for me tonight. I found myself checking out the men at the mall today and it was like i was shopping for a new mate or something. My H was very angry and upset with me the other night when I wasn't home at midnight. He accused me of numerous things and I was sarcastic and let him think some of it was true until he became very hurtful with his words and then I finally confessed. I was at WalMart! See I haven't been sleeping very well since I lost the baby and I needed to get out of the house and it was either there or the grocery store.
Part of me is tempted to find a new man or go looking for one just for spite but... I keep pushing those thought out of my head and keep asking God for strength to get through these very lonely days and very lonely nights.
Lord keep us both on the straight and narrow path and lead us away from tempation, let us desire only each other and find a way to reconcile for he is the man you chose for me and I am the woman you chose for him. In Jesus name, amen.
------------------
morgan

Hi Ladies.
I have just started 'His Temptations'. The strangest thing happened to me. I dreamed that I was reading the Bible and was reading a verse about (Oh dear I know I am going to mess this up!) temptation (adultry, I believe) it was something about if a man even looks at another woman he has already commited adultry in his mind, so let him take out his eye for the loss of an eye is far better than eternity in hell...and cutting of your hand is better than eternity in hell. I have searched and searched and cannot find these verses..so any of you know which verse I am talking about? I would really love to read these verses.
Thanks
Gabbie

here Gabbie:
Matthew 5
27«*You have heard that it was said, "*YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY';
28but I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman *with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
29«*If your right eye makes you [77]stumble, tear it out and throw it from you; for it is better for you
[78]to lose one of the parts of your body, [79]than for your whole body to be thrown into [80]*hell.
30«*If your right hand makes you [81]stumble, cut it off and throw it from you; for it is better for you
[82]to lose one of the parts of your body, [83]than for your whole body to go into [84]*hell.
I was watching a movie called "Matthew yesterday and it went through these verses.. I remembered it was right after the Beatitudes of the Sermon on the Mount...
This temptation chapter makes me really wonder if I dropped the ball so many years ago... I wish I was praying for specific areas way back then.... Especially for "His wife", I think I could have avoided the mess if I would have been taking care of my end.
cozy

Cozy wrote "This temptation chapter makes me really wonder if I dropped the ball so many years ago... I wish I was praying for specific areas way back then.... Especially for "His wife", I think I could have avoided the mess if I would have been taking care of my end." I just about wrote the same thing in my journal 2 days ago. If I had only been praying like I am now maybe....
things would be different now.
Lord give me the strength to make it through each day and continue to help me trust in you and not worry about the past or the future. Lord help my H resist the temptation of alcohol and the temptation of the OW.
------------------
morgan
