I think in our situation, the affair was part of a bigger picture that could be lumped into "Midlife crisis". One of my other favorite, sustaining books is YOUR HUSBAND'S MID LIFE CRISIS by Conway, part of a trilogy of MEN IN MIDLIFE CRISIS and WOMEN IN MIDLIFE CRISIS. Conway talks about midlife in a Christian perspective as re-evaluating work, marriage, health, God. My H is athletic and always been healthy--until he developed back problems from a basketball (for fun) injury several years ago.
A healthy body is so taken for granted until you don't have one anymore. I have rheumatoid arthritis and understand this very well. But your life still continues and the challenge is to find contentment in our situation, whatever it is.
Lord, I pray that you grant my husband physical rest, mental refreshment and spiritual renewal. I pray your healing especially for his back and his physical symptoms of depression. I pray that he understand that his body is your temple, holy and pure and that he will present to you as a living sacrifice. In Jesus' name.
------------------
Lor
"Do not get tired of doing what is right, for after awhile you will reap a harvest of blessings if you do not get discouraged and give up. (Gal 6:9)

My H is a runner. He has run 6 marathons over the past 15 years. He takes great pride in this accomplishment for he is small in stature and never was able to compete with the "big boys". When the affair began the OW used it to her advantage along with everything else. She tarnished his accomplishment and made running a tool in her hands. Eventually she was jealous of the time it took away from her to train.
The reason I go into all of this is that this year my H was able to again after a long dry spell run a half marathon. He was not in shape to do the usual full marathon. The lifestyle he lived took away so much including his physical well-being. I was so proud of him to be able to at least try again. He is still overweight and does not have the lung capacity he once had.
My prayer for him is for restored health. I want him to have back what the devil has taken. This is something he really needs and it would be a miracle for him to be able to run again like he once did.
Lord, Restore my husbands health. Give him the vision to see himself physically healthy again. Help him to begin to live healthy and not allow food to ease his pain. Father, help him to forgive himself and see himself as your child and able to accomplish all things through Christ Who gives him strength. May the year 2000 be the first of many marathons run for Your Glory. In Jesus name I pray.
