I posted for this chapter under taj's post. I got a little confused.
Anyway, This chapter was very important to me. I know that at this point Arik is not completely willing to remove himself from tempting situations, especially those involving the OW. He continues to leave her in his yahoo messenger even though he knows that the temptation to send her an on-line message is very strong when he sees her name hi-lighted.(He gave into the temptation once already just before Christmas)
I find myself reading this chapter and praying the prayer everytime I read the book.
I know this is one prayer I will be praying more and more in the weeks ahead as he returns to his job where daily contact is part of his routine.(For those unfamiliar with our story he had a long distance affair with a woman he has to talk to everyday for work to find out what his tasks are for that day).
My prayer is that Arik will fully realize the draw of his temptation and will gain a strong desire to do what it takes to remove himself from tempting situations. I pray that God will give him the strength to resist any temptating situation that he may find himself in.
------------------
Love and Prayers
Nicole

I have been praying constantly that my husband would have a softened heart and understand why he cannot have 'innocent' contact with the OW. He changed jobs, yet when she responded to a bulk email he sent for their prof. org., he spoke to her by phone twice.
Last week we went for an 'emergency' counseling session when he told me about the renewed contact. Our counselor told him to carry a picture of us together in his wallet and tear it up if he contacts her, to make what he is doing more 'real', that is, destroying my love for him and tearing me up.
He promised in that session to call her and ask for no more contact. She hasn't been answering her phone, so I think the "end" will be this week.
Lord, please work in my husbands heart and mind and draw him to yourself by the overwhelming power of your grace. Thank you that he continues to come to church. Thank you for "instructing his heart while he sleeps" by sending dreams that shake him from his fantasy. Thank you for the wonderful holiday time you gave us.
Holy Spirit, convict my husband of his sins for the sake of my children and I. Heavenly Father, please hold back your wrath and continue to be patient with him. Lord Jesus, speak to my husband and remind him that he gave his life to you once long ago. Please draw him back into your fold by the strength of your love.
I open myself to be changed in whatever way necessary to restore my marriage. Guide me so that I may be the wife that he needs, and strengthen his desire for me. Please grow the love that he is feeling and multiply it, so that he can withstand temptation because he prefers to be happy with me, rather than because of a sense of obligation.
Please continue to speak to him in his dreams and motivate him to positive actions. Please move him to repentance before you and heal his broken spirit soon.
Thank you.
Amen.
------------------

"I have found the Pearl of Great Price"
