Hello all. Well we got back today after spending the holiday with my FIL. What a weekend.
I won't waste your time by recanting my rantings from last week, so if you aren't aware of the history, please look for my posts from last week.
Lets see, where do I begin. . .OK financial, FIL told my W that we would discuss the financial problems when we got there Thursday. I was the one who initiated contact with FIL about our financial problems, but during the entire time we were there, absolutely nothing was said to me. aparently my FIL and his W both talked with my W about this though. bottom line. they agreed to "loan" us 1/3 of what we asked them for. I don't know if it is going to really help or not, but I guess time will tell.
Wednesday afternoon at work, I received an E-Mail from a friend of mine that I used to work with. He strongly encouraged me to call his boss. Well, I did call tehm, and agreed to call them back Friday morning.
Friday, when I called I was given a phone interview by my friends boss, and his boss. This "interview" lasted about 20 minutes. They had a copy of my resume which my friend had given them. At any rate, I was not asked a single question about my background or my goals. The entire "interview" was spent telling me about the job, the training benefits available (they are abundant) and the plans they have for the future. The "interview" concluded with them telling me that the next contact from them would be with a job offer. . .
2 hours later I received a phone call . . . They offered me the job [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
I will be getting almost a 20% pay raise [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
The company I will be working for is just a little startup computer company . . . IBM
So . . . How do you guys think the weekend went . . .
God Bless

ES, Congratulations on the new job!
(small startup computer company, indeed!)
Sorry that your FIL made a point of keeping you out of the financial conversation ... sounds like that's going to have to be one of those "grin and bear it" situations.
You and Hopeful are moving forward nicely, sounds like!
My best to you...
------------------
terri
I believe in miracles...

terri -- Well, IBM was a small little startup company once [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com] Sorry, but I had to get a little sarcasm into my post somehow, right [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
I think grin and bear it describes the situation with my FIL very well. There is a small part of me that would love to grab him by the lapels and shake some sense into him, but I know this would accomplish nothing. Hopefully, one of these days he will consider me worthy of being treated with some real respect. . .
Thanks terri. I appreciate it.
God Bless

Empty Shell,
Just had to chime in with the others and say Congradulations!!!! [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
God is an awesome God!
Your father in law leaving you out of the discussions wasn't good. Maybe you could lift him up in prayer so that he may learn to be all that God wants him to be. No matter what God was able to use him in his scheme of things so....PTL [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
I am happy for you. Good news on this board makes a contagious smile go around. "Aint life grand?"

------------------
God bless you and all of us.
Samantha
Patient Love -- Yes God is Awesome. And yes being "left out of the conversations" was/is a little difficult to deal with. I hope and pray that things will finally be going in the right direction.
lostva -- See what you get for going to bed so early [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com] Thank you for the well wishes. hopeful and I are both happy about the new job. I really think this is going to be a good move.
Heartpain -- Thank you. You're right, this really is great news.
Samantha-MI -- The holidays seem to be such a difficult time for the members of this forum, and hopeful and I seem to have been able to beat the odds. With the job changes and financial problems, our Christmas will be a little tight this year, but I think it will be one of the best we have had in a while regardless.
God Bless

Hi Empty,
Congrats on the new job offer. I would have to say that you might want to seriously reconsider taking the position. Moving to a job with a relatively new and unheard of start up company is kind of iffy at best. Empty Shell,
I have to agree with you on the holidays. I know they are going to be hard of me. My hubby too I fear. He spent much time with the OW last year through the holidays.
BUT like you it is going to be the best holiday season we (I) have had in many years. So in that respect I am really looking forward to it. We too have financial difficulties. I think most people do these days. Still we are very blessed and will have the ability to make it wonderful.
Again thanks for the smile. Your story helped make my day.
------------------
God bless you and all of us.
Samantha
