The questions and statements in this chapter are so insightful. So many men represented on this forum seem to be tangled in their own pride to one degree or another.
I can't help but know that if my H had repented of his sin right away our lives would of been so different. I know God protected me and my children over the long years of infidelity, but God certainly couldn't bless my husbands life. I wonder just how many opportunities in life he missed because he was "covering his sin" (Proverbs 28:13)
On page 74 it says. "Too many men have fallen because of pride and the inability to confess and repent"......"Unconfessed sin doesn't just go away. It becomes a cancer that grows and suffocates life".
Stormie tells us that praying for your husband to repent,"can be very annoying for the one being prayed for, but it's far easier to have God shine His light upon our sin than it is to experience the consequences of it." We need to remain steadfast in our praying.
Ladies, there have been far too many consequences already, don't you agree?
Lord, convict our husbands of any error in their lives. Uncover, reveal, expose anything that they are attempting to hide. If there is suffering to be done, let it be the suffering of a remorseful and penitent heart and not the crushing hand of the enemy due to an opening in their lives through unconfessed sin. Take away any pride that would cause them to deny their faults and work into their souls humility. Lord, You say You are not willing for any to perish but that all should come to repentance. We claim this promise and and stand on Your word and Your faithfulness. IJN

Just looking at the name of this Chapter brings me to tears. I can hardly read through this one; because my H could be Jerry (the drug user) except replace drugs with alcohol. Over the last 17 years I have heard "I'm sorry, I'll never do it again" or "I didn't mean to hurt you" soooooo many times. Hearing that from my H now means nothing. Because I know in his heart he is not repentant. And he knows he will do it again, and again and again. Because he is sick, he cannot help it. He is addicted, period.
Only God can deliver him from this addiction. That is what I pray for. I have prayed and prayed and prayed my heart out, asking God to please deliver him from this addiction. On my knees I have told the Lord that I will NEVER stop praying for him, for the rest of his life, because I believe with all my heart that one day my H will be repentant, and will turn his life over to God. I am reminded of Galatians 6:9 "And let us not be weary in welldoing; for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not". God is telling me "don't give up".
Right now, my H doesn't think he's doing or has done anything wrong. His heart is so hardened, he has closed it off from the Lord. But, I believe that the Lord can penetrate the wall of hardness he has around his heart... Thank you Father for preparing my husband's heart to receive You.
Besides his alcohol addiction, my husband suffers from too much selfish pride. This too, I pray that the Lord will break down and remove, bringing him to total repentance.
Page 174, par. 2 - "he needs a repentant heart". True repentance means having so much remorse over what you've done that you don't do it again. Only God can cause us to see our sin for what it is and feel about it the same way He does.
"Unconfessed sin doesn't just go away. It becomes a cancer that grows and suffocates life". How very true. Last year while my H was involved in his affair and drinking himself into oblivion daily, he had three mini strokes in less that 3 months. He had patches of his hair fall out. He couldn't eat anything with tomato sauce in it because he would get horrible stomach pains. Living a lie caused this. Yet, it still did not bring him to repentance. What will it take Lord?
Lord I pray that your goodness will lead our husbands to true, total repentance. Your word says You are not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. We stand on Your word, Lord in praying for our husbands. Show our husbands what sins they need to confess and be repentant of. Lord, soften their hearts, filling them with the Holy Spirit. For You said "if ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, remove hence to younder place, and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you". We stand in faith that You will bring true remorse and repentance to those of our husbands who have not yet repented. Thank you Lord, we give praise to You in the highest. IJN AMEN.

I printed this one out and put my H's name in the blank and it hangs here above my puter... It is the most important chapter for me to pray... Untill the day he is repentant, nothing else will happen for any length of time, because it will be done in his own power...
And what a mess H is in, I wouldn't want to be in his shoes..... ![[Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]](http://www.marriagebuilders.com/forum/images/icons/frown.gif) Soon I hope with the right type of praying my H will be back at the foot of the cross, and then the recovery can begin..... Untill then, I can't expect much or even hope much.

------------------
Jesus is the only answer!
His blessings, Cozy

I got on earlier but, I wanted to find something to post. I saw a movie about Kay Arthur one time and she said something really profound.
Sin will take you further then you
ever intended to go.
Sin will cost you more than you
ever expected to pay.
and Sin will keep you longer than you
ever intended to stay.
I got the Power of a Praying Study guide yesterday in the mail. I was so frantically writing all night that I haven't even had a chance to look at it. So in an hour or so here, I am crawling into bed to read this chapter and to look over the study guide.

hw, did you get a chance to look over the study guide? I've done a little on chapter one His Wife in it. Once again, it caused me to realize my part in all that's gone wrong in my marriage.
Lord, I lift up all the praying wives on this forum, asking that you guide each of us as we go through these chapters, blessing us with your word and understanding. Thank you Lord for being amidst us, and pointing out the areas we as wives need to work on. Lord, I ask again this morning that the husbands be convicted of their sins, and brought to repentance. Show each one how you want them to be, facing them on the path straight towards You. Thank you Lord, IJN I pray, AMEN

MTAW,hw,
I have been using the study guide for a week now. I have been using it as well with my 2 friends who are studying the book with me. We all agree it adds alot to the study. It really does help you pinpoint more specifcally aspects which you otherwise would miss.
Maybe it would help using the study guide on this forum to provoke more responses. It seems like there are only a few who are posting in response to each chapter.
Since the book is what has taught us the power of a praying wife, I myself would appreciate more posting concerning each chapter.
How shall we do this? Start with Chap 1 again and identify it with an S.G.
We should finish the book all the way through first though.......it might get confusing.
What does everyone think?
Taj

Taj, I agree with you, the Study Guide is a great tool for examining our prayer life and marriage more in depth. You're right though we should finish the chapters, then start with Chapter 1 with the Study guide, maybe a couple of the questions in the guide each day, covering a chapter a week? I've done chapter 1 with the guide and it really helped me refocus on how I should pray for changes in me. I had been slipping here, and focusing more on "change him Lord".
Thanks Taj, I sure do appreciate your posts, they really help me get more into God's word every day.
God bless you,
MTAW

AW, Taj, cozy and Sue,
I ooked at the guide last night but in my sleep deprevition I didn't do to much. I think it is a great idea. Doing a couple of questions a day. It looks like the first chapter has the most questions, (as usual God has to work with us most before He allows us to pray for our loved ones). So I am ready. To be honest with school, I may not do them every day, but it is a goal. I would love to do it. Hey, now it will really be like a Bible study. Shall we say Monday we post the first two questions? Give us a few days to get started.

I ordered Power of a Praying Wife (Stormie) yesterday, my local library didn't have it, and Barnes & Nobles was out. So I ordered it on-line, won't receive til Weds. BUT please count me in. I will have to get the study guide as well, didn't know about it. Sorry.
I pray to you Lord that you give me the strength to do your will. Wisdom to teach our children your Word, and to have undying faith in You. Continue to soften my H's heart and give him an understanding of my love for him. Lord, bring my H back to you - let him realize his role in our family, which cannot be done without You.
IJN Amen.
I'm so happy I have found this forum and a great group of women to pray with. Thank you Lord for that too.

I have ordered my study guide and will pick it up on Saturday.... I would love to start over again at Chapter 1 as soon as we finish the book as we have been first... I think we would be double blessed going over the material again....
There are only 5 more chapters, so we should get them posted within the next two weeks and then I like the idea of posting them as "Study Guide" chap 1 to keep them separated...
I am so thankful for this book the prayer and the fellowship of ALL of you, I just wish that somehow we could all sit someday in heaven and have a good chat, a cup of tea and much worship and praise for what God did for us here... Is it a date? ![[Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]](http://www.marriagebuilders.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif)
------------------
Jesus is the only answer!
His blessings, Cozy

I was just thinking, so many of us are praying for repentance unto salvation or repentance unto restoration that the verse in 1 Peter 3 came to mind...
In the same way, you wives must eccept the authority of your husbands, even those who refuse to accept the Good News. Your Godly lives will speak to them better than any words. They will be won over by watching your pure, Godly behavior.
I posted that in 'the Living Bible' but i like just as much the other version saying that by our quiet gentle spirit we will win them... I think we forget that we play a part in their turning sometimes.. I know I have!
------------------
Jesus is the only answer!
His blessings, Cozy

quote:
Your Godly lives will speak to them better than any words.

Cozy, I'm so glad you reminded me of that verse! I've got to keep praying the "Change Me Lord" prayer so that I might become a Godly woman, and my husband will see Godly behavior in me.
Thank you Lord for walking with each praying wife today, guiding us towards more Godly behavior. We praise You Lord for filling our hearts and souls with the Holy Spirit. Go before us in all contact we have with our husbands, as well as others. Let our meek, gentle, loving spirit be apparent always. IJN AMEN
