It was suggested by a friend that i get the book Power of a Praying Wife to help me pray more directly and more powerfully for my H and his current temptations with suspected OWs (possibly) overly intimate friendgirls (for sure) and his thoughts of separation and divorce. It's been as if all the months of fertility treatments were unwanted now that our baby girl is on the way. In truth, I feel his dad coming to visit for the 1st 2 months of my pregnancy had a bad influence on him, FIL divorced 3 times, has 9 children from the various unions and has maintained contact with only one , my H. He proclaims to be Christian, goes to church every time the doors are open, but lives the life of a sinner. He is judgemental, prideful, selfish, you name it....he lies and he borrows $ that is never repaid, he has no regard for anyone besides himself.
Anyway, a drastic change came over H and I've been praying without too much success until I got the book. Before that I wasn't sure how to pray..the problem was so overwhelming. Well, this week (I got the book Monday, but didn't get a chance to read it.) H seemed to be up to something on Tuesday. He sd he'd be spending the nihgt at BIL's house (odd) on Wed. I had found a paper with a girl's name and the words wed/sat off, so I was suspicious. Tuesday I prayed for H on my own, Wed he has distant. In desperation, though I hadn't read the book in order yet, I flipped to a page randomly..it was pg.175...about revealing hidden sins and convicting my H when he is wrong (meaning I don't have to keep up with what he's doing...God will watch and catch him)I prayed repeatedly and when night came H said he was too tired to spend night at BIL.!!!!! But he went to return the mower, came home and was furious because someone had called a "friend" of his to ask if they knew him and what he was to them etc...must have been long distance because he wanted to see our bill which wasn't in yet. i asked if he thought it was me..he did ..and I assured him it had NOT been me. He left without my knowing and was gone when I got out of the shower. So I got on my knees and prayed that prayer again adding specifics , and within the hour he came home, he didn't apologize but he was more humble..the hostility gone..and he cuddled some when he came to bed. so I feel he is being convicted and I feel he is watching some of his secrets being revealed..maybe not to me, but someone's on to him.
So Wed., before H came back home I was encouraged to try again, though Iknow God doesn't always work quickly, unless it's in his plan....again I just opened the book to wherever it would fall, and it landed on pg155..the prayer for restoration of marriage. In the a.m H actually kissed me on the temple before he left and sadi he loved me...first time since his dad left 2 months ago. So all day yesterday I prayed that prayer...and though H came home in a snit, he let it go quickly, he did leave to go on some nebulous adventure with a friend of ours and didn't want to share details, but he is back to referring to me by pet names, came home quickly, brought me dinner and expressed concern over my getting burned while he was gone (kitchen incident) we spent the evening watching tv and having a really good time, and as we slept he held me closer and closer..consistently all night long. He hasn't checked his e-mail, hasn't been to a porn site and has only received one beeper message since Tuesday....this is alot of progress in one week..though I didn't get an I love you or kiss this a.m
I'll continue to pray, and watch God work in H's life. I know not all prayers will be answered so quicklybut it seems this week H was in immediate danger of giving into temptations so I guess immediate action was called for. I am going to pray for him now to take back some of the responsibility for running this household. i have done everything since his withdrawal and it's too hard at this stage of pregnancy. i'll let you know what happens.
