In the book I'm reading, "The Bondage Breaker" by Neil Anderson (GREAT book by the way) there is a section on how to pray for someone who is in the clutches of the evil one. The main points from this chapter are:
1) Pray that the demons may be cut off from all communication and help from other demons and Satan.
2) Pray that the demons would be confused and weakened in their hold on that person.
3) Pray that the person would be strengthened in his faith to understand his position in Christ and to trust and obey God's Word.
4) Pray that the person may be able to distinguish between his thought and feeling and those of Satan. (I pray this for myself too)
5) Pray that the person might recognize the demonic presence and not be confused, but willingly seek godly counsel and help.
6) Pray that God would protect and guide His child and set angelic forces at work to break up every scheme of the enemy.
Neil says when we pray we are not trying to persuade God to join us in our service for Him; prayer is the activity of joining God in His ministry. By faith we lay hold of the property in Satan's clutches which rightfully belongs to God, and we hold on until Satan turns loose. "Fervent prayer thwarts Satan's activity like nothing else."
He also says that "there are 4 things you need to pray for. First, since the field is white unto harvest, we should pray for workers (Matthew 9:37, 38). Paul asks, "How will they hear without a preacher?" (Romans 10:14). Ask God to send someone to shar the good news with them. Second the lost are dead in their trespasses and sin, and what jesus came to do was give them life (John 10:10). Pray that God will give them life (1 John 5:16). Third, pray against the thoughts raised up against the knowledge of god, and for the binding of Satan. Finally, pray that the eyes of lost people would be opened to the Truth that will set them free in Christ."
This book is helping me understand how the enemy twists my emotions around, causing me to be negative, depressed, and full of anxiety. The good news is as born-again Christians, we have all authority and power over all the forces of darkness. Hallelujah!

YEP-That is neat book all right and in the back of that book is the list I was talking about of Who we are in Christ. I can't remember if it was that book of his or another one where he suggests you invite Christian friends over and pray in each and every room in the house to remove all evil and claim the house as the Lord's.

I haven't gotten all the way through the book yet, but did take a look at the end where it talks about our Freedom in Christ. Wow. I have always enjoyed Neil Anderson's devotionals, and this book has been hard to put down. I haven't seen the part about having your Christian friends come over and pray over every room, maybe it's in the other book I almost bought, Victory over Darkness. I will have to check that book out.

Either way Rootbeer, with David gone, you should be able to bring friends to the house and pray it clean clear to the nooks and crannies before he comes home!

This is so awesome you are reading this book. It gives us just a glimpse of the power of Jesus Christ and his name.
Satan and his demons are powerful - seeking to kill, steal, and destroy - our marriages, our finances, our health, our children - and to really try to effect our spiritual walk/faith - so that we are not the encouragers and overcomers that God promised us we would be through his Son, our Saviour, Christ Jesus.
Good news! We signed the final papers on the lake house today! NOW..... First order of business....
I am going to the lake house tomorrow to pray in each room, and annoint windows and doors - and ask that the Holy Spirit reside with us in our new home, (and I know he will!), and that the home will be a physical place of refuge, and that we will have a home on earth - CHRIST FILLED - to be a mirror of our home in heaven (just as Jerusalem is a physical place on earth to mirror the Heavenly place in which the Lord dwells.)
Praise God, sisters! Praise the Lord.
TNT

I have a question. Whn praying over the house and in each room. Is this something that is done once in the house or something to be done periodically? I have never seen any comment on this. Just wondering.
Are there specific scriptures or prayers that you know of?

Aw,
I will have to get this book, I do believe it might help me. My husband says he's stopping the divorce and he doesn't know about coming home. He has been real angry towards everyone. He acts like were all out to get him and I'm sure the ow is telling him that we are. Tomorrow is court for the divorce, My husband tells everyone we are working on our problems but I don't understand how he thinks this as how do you work on your marriage and live with another woman. I pray for God's healing on my husband that the blinders be removed. In Jesus name I pray amen.
I'm praying for all.
This trial has been hard on me and I know I couldn't do it without God, I often wonder how people live without God in their life.
