For those of you who don't know, my son has been on what's called, "Hospital Home Care" for two years. It's a home-schooling system, payed for by the district, where the teacher comes to the house twice a week. The rest of the time, my son works at home on his schoolwork.
He has disabilities, mostly motor skills stuff (he wasn't breathing when he was born, which caused seizures, and some other neuro disorders with really long names) and social skills problems. The reason he began this program was he had severe socialization problems, and was teased sooooo much at school, tried to hang himself at school because of the stress, and ultimately, one day when he'd hit his end emotionally, he threatened to kill his class with his dad's guns. The police were called, and it was determined that he didn't mean it (he was in therapy at the time too) but that he was trying to get the kids to leave him alone.
So, his dad feels that it's time for him to go back to school (he's 17, going into his junior year)... and since his dad is the major caregiver (he has physical custody) he has made this decision without my input (I don't agree, and he knows it).
I'm afraid for my son. I don't want him to do/say something that will land his butt in juvie.
Pray for my son, please.
Thanks everyone, in advance.
Sheryl

Hi Alannah, SuzzieQ and Paha,
Thank you so much for the prayers!! Much appreciated. ![[Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]](http://www.marriagebuilders.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif)
Yes, I have talked with my son, as has David, but we honestly can't tell if his fear is more "normal" (teenager going back to high school after a long absense - stressful for any teen) or part and parcel with his disability. He is afraid, that's for sure.
David told him that he'd like T (our son) to give it 2 weeks, at least. He *promised* that he could back on home schooling if it didn't work. My fear is that T will have a rough time at the beginning, some kid will make fun of him (T has speech problems and, as I said, motor skills probs, so PE will be terribly difficult) and he'll say something that will land him in the principal's office - or worse! ![[Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]](http://www.marriagebuilders.com/forum/images/icons/frown.gif)
Keep on praying, and I thank you very, very much for those prayers.
Sheryl

Hi Paha,
If you'll write to nbeginning@yahoo.com I'll give you my home addy, okay?
As far as how things are going... well... I called the district where Travis will go to school, and got an email address to send my concerns to the Special Services people. I sent an email to the Director, and was happily surprised to hear back from him (he actually called me long distance - thanks for the prayers, they were answered!)... and he listened to me, and said he'd forward my concerns to the District Psych, and also to the Principal of the school. Now, the best thing he did, was promise me that there will never be an another IEP meeting where I won't be involved, via a conference call!! ![[Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]](http://www.marriagebuilders.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif) Isn't that amazing?
David's not speaking to me again, because he's so angry with me about this. He wants to continue to punish me for leaving him. I can't help that. This is for our son's wellbeing.
I feel hopeful for T!!! ![[Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]](http://www.marriagebuilders.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif)

Well... a little update...
My son is alright, but not great. Some kids made fun of him yesterday and today, which wouldn't be that big of a deal to someone who had even one friend... but... sigh... he has none.
He's had a teacher or two reach out in understanding... but he needs a friend.
Let's pray for a friend for T, shall we? Pretty please!!?? ![[Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]](http://www.marriagebuilders.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif)
Lord, I humbly ask you to send someone to T, who can become a friend to him. Let him be someone who understands differences in people, and allows T to be who he is. Please Lord, make it soon, because I want T to remain in school if possible. I see changes, for the good, already, and I'm afraid if he goes back to home schooling, he will backslide and never leave the house.
Thank you, Lord.
In Jesus Name,
Amen

Father,
I want to thank you for Sheryl. She has been a wonderful friend to all of us here on MB, and Lord I ask you to bless her bountifully today. Lord, I know she KNOWS you, and she KNOWS you want to help her son, and I know that your will is good for her son.
So, Lord, I ask, in agreement with YOUR will, and in agreement with Sheryl that you would send her son a special friend that will bring glory to you and safety and acceptance to her son. Father, let your son Jesus be known to T in a deeper way. Keep him protected.
I also pray for her immigration to go smoothly, and that you will make the desires of her heart (the purpose that you have for her in Canada) be known to her. In Jesus name,
Amen

Hi TnT and Paha,
Well, first, thank you for the prayers!! I feel very blessed. <nice warm fuzzies>
I'm afraid that T is having some problems, but amazingly enough, I have been right in the thick of things, 4000 miles away. David does not understand what needs to be done, and won't ask me ![[Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]](http://www.marriagebuilders.com/forum/images/icons/mad.gif) , but, the school has been in constant contact with me, and I have been able to HELP!! ![[Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]](http://www.marriagebuilders.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif)
Today, T is suppose to meet with his school counselor, and I'll find out tonight whether he plans to continue on campus, or perhaps has decided he needs to stay at home...
He found one nice boy that seemed a possible friend, and then even that boy teased him <broken heart for both of us>...
I'm going on my honeymoon this weekend, and when I return, I will be looking into what I can do from here, in an even BIGGER way, that will help my son.
Love to you both, and again, thank you very much for the thoughts and prayers.
Sheryl

UPDATE!!!
My son had a GREAT DAY at school today! I wrote an email two days ago that helped to get him placed more appropriately in his PE class, he is seeing the school counselor for a standing approintment every Friday, and he is allowed to leave class, if necessary if he feels like he's going to rage, if he goes to the counselor's office.
Praise God!!! Thank you for the prayers...
...and thank you, Jesus, for the answers...
AMEN!! ![[Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]](http://www.marriagebuilders.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif)
