hi...
I was praying about someone trapped in the sin of immorality. God spoke to my heart through the scripture that this kind doesn't go out except by prayer.
I felt led of God to begin praying scripture, I know I am praying God's will in power when I pray the Word of God over someone's life, over his life 3 times a day.
So, I went to the new testament and got a host of scripture about living pure, being honest, being holy, and being sanctified in love.
I can give you the scriptures. Quite a few.
So I pray them over him as if I am "speaking life" into him by praying the scriptures as if to him.
Because he is a Christian, he is indwelt by the Holy Spirit. What I am praying, I know, has great power because the Holy Spirit is moving in agreement with the Word to touch his mind, soul, heart, and strength.
I didn't feel strong enough to address the power of the sin at work in his life. It's got a very strong hold. Yet, somehow, I can tell you that I "feel" those prayers moving. I no longer feel the same. I feel stronger, more focussed, and more assertive in relation to the situation.
Would you stand in faith with me and agree with me that God is moving as I pray and that God's will will be done?
I'll give you an update.
Any other experiences out there praying the scripture?
God bless,
Laura

The first time I read your post, I thought you said immortality. I didn't respond sooner because I was scratching my head trying to figure out what kind of prayers you were praying.
When you say "praying the scripture", are you choosing passages from the Bible and reading them aloud as your form of prayer for your H? I'll participate with you.

Hi lonesome:
Yes, I'm praying starting in Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, James, I & II Peter. It's very powerful.
I don't have the specific scriptures with me right now. It takes about a half hour. I pray it in the morning with my regular prayers, when I get home from work, and before I go to bed.
It certainly IS eliminating the power of discouragement, confusion, hurt, anger, bitterness, and just pain and stuff... like a weight, then a cloud... THE FOG... that's what it is!!!... lifting off of me.
The power of sin at work in his life isn't harming me like it was. Since the prayer is changing me and breaking the power of sin... "busting up the fog"... bet it's doing the same for him.

I believe it!! I receive it.
I'll get you the specific prayers and look forward to telling you that the power is broken and his life has been changed.
I will.
God bless,
Laura

I look forward to the specific scriptures LL. Some of it will help me and my own H too I'm sure. I don't think of my H as immoral per se, but more of a man with a hard heart. If you can recommend some scripture that would be good for my H, I'd love your input. I flipped through the Bible aimlessly last night, not sure which part to read. Putting me on a mission will do us all good!

Update... I just know that this prayer is good for me. I don't feel offended. Seems to me that someone can hurt me only if their actions successfully offend me. I don't feel hurt or offended.
It's very good to pray for others... especially if they have hurt us.
What I feel is confidence. I just read how sometimes soomeone intentially inflicts pain because the "best defense is a good offense". They do that, franklymydear said, to undermine our confidence and control our actions.
One positive result is not feeling that my confidence is undermined as I increasingly feel that sense of love, peace, comfort, and confidence.
Well, I'm enjoying praying.
I honestly do feel that the situation is changing. But I'm not interested, right now, in learning how.
It's enough for me, right now, to pray. What God does, God does.

Hi Lonesome.
Sorry, I didn't see your post at first.
I would say to pray Ephesians 1:16-22 and Ephesians 3:14-21. These are both prayers Paul prayed for all Christians everywhere. They are important and powerful in strengthening Christians in God's love.
Then, to deal with the negative to overturn it, in Ephesians is Ephesians 4:17-32... saying what not to do and what to instead do. It's practical about saying "And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another even as God in Christ forgave you."
If his name is Jim, you can say, "Jim, do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God... Jim, let all bitterness, wrath anger... And, Jim, be kind to others and especially to me. Be tenderhearted and be tenderhearted toward me. Forgive me, Jim, nad forgive everyone else and I forgive you, Jim, and everyone else, even as God in Christ forgave you, Jim, and me (your name).
So make it personal by putting his name in there in relation to you. Ephesians 5 is very powerful. It's a prayer to walk in love and to avoid fornication and all impure things that corrupt men and women... those things become a barrier to love in marriage through lack of love. So I pray all of that up to 22... which applies directly to marriage.
I do pray about me submitting to him... but I pray the scripture about it... because God's plan is that we all be submitted to one another in love in mutual submission to one another and in full submission to Christ. The result is sanctification in love in mutual consideration.
Praying it as God wrote it is a 2-way street of 2 people loving one another with neither one getting or giving permission to be harmed, used, or taken advantage of. It's safe.
If you have a family, I would pray for the children to obey you nad for the father to not exasperate them and to instead bring them up in God's training and admonition which causes no harm. Eph. 6:1-4.
Then I pray the armor of God.
Like "Finally, Jim (or his name), be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God..." Ephesians 6:10-20. God calls each of us to speak the Word.
If you time it, I don't think it really takes all that long... it it is laser focussed. It's the Word. Every word has great power: God's Word does not return void. Whatever you pray in the Lord's will He hears and you will ahve what you say. The fervent, effectual prayer of a righteous man (or woman) avails much.
In other words, God is moving every time you pray an the powers of darkness have no power to override what you say. If you keep praying, you must win. The things that you say are going to coome to be. There is a period of wrestling... but everytime you pray God is moving to do what He said He would do.
So whatever circumstances or conditions of the heart and in life are contrary to what you are praying... they will weaken, weaken, weaken, weaken with time and prayer because the prayer will strengthen, strengthen, strengten, strengthen the love of God.
As long as your husband is a Christian indwelt by the Holy Spirit... there is no possible way to resist this prayer. There may be a feeling of unsettling as God moves to change him, but he will change. He has to. No matter what anyone says, God is more powerful and will conform him to the image of Christ.
Can you imagine being married to someone as loving, kind, caring, gentle, and wonderful as Jesus?
That's who is on the inside of every Christian. As we pray for them, Jesus grows up inside until they become just like Him.
That's what God intends for marriage, I believe. True love.
Hope this answered your question.
I pray other scriptures also, but I pray a lot as a general rule.
By the way, don't be surprised if you feel like you are experiencing teh feeligns of coming out of withdrawal as you pray... the hurt you hvaen't been feeling you might begin to feel. You don't need to talk about with the hubby or WS or whatever to work it on out. If you keep praying, you will break through spiritually and move from conflict to intimacy on the inside of you in your soul.
You will heal, recover, and forgive... and feel unconditional love. Then, of course, you do want to resolve any issues of conflict. But if you get to intimacy with him... in relationship... it's so easy to resolve issues.
Best wishes!
Laura

Thank you so much for your detailed response. Here you were asking for help, and you end up helping me more than I've helped you. Let's hope it all comes back to you 10 fold! I read the entire book of Epheisans out loud last night, including specific prayers for your H and mine. Next time I'll have your list of scripture and my bible in the same room. I'm with ya laura lee!

Hi Lonesome:
Thanks! One puts a thousand to flight... two put ten thousand to flight! I'm so glad you are joining with me in agreement in prayer. We're both 10 times as powerful together as a result.
I saw your comments. I caught that you don't have children. Sorry I missed that earlier.
He has PTSD? Well, there have to be scriptures to address that need.
Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome has a lot to do with the spirit of fear. I had a very traumatic experience and have recovered.
I don't have my bible right in front of me. I think it's II Timothy 7 if I remember right.
"For God has not given (my WSO is named Ken)"Ken" a spirit of fear but of love, of power, and of self-discipline (means a sound mind in another version)."
"Perfect love casts out fear."
Also, "Whatever is lovely, pure, excellent, and of a good report, think about those things".
As you pray that over him, I believe that will help with the PTSD.
PTSD is like a fog... but it's terrible because it's as if the fog hangs over someone having gotten into their life through a very traumatic set of circumstances. They need to heal on the inside and break emotional connection with the memory of the event in order for their emotional responses to heal.
He needs healing in his soul. If he will not get counselling, we can pray for him. The Holy Spirit is a Counsellor... and as we pray, God will send the Counsellor.
Also about the anointing of the Holy Spirit being a healing balm that binds up the broken hearted.
I am going to stand in faith with you that the power of the spirit of fear will be broken, and that your husband will become calm, at peace, and that his soul will heal.
Lonesome, when I pray for people, they tell me that they can feel it. I pray a lot.
Is he born-again? I can tell you that if he is, this is gonna work. Thanks again!
Laura

Laura Lee, You're a regular godsend for me. I paved a path a mile wide for my H to get counselling at the veteran center. He finally went there twice, shortly before we separated, but he didn't stick with it. He's spiritual in a generic sort of way. If he's a believer, he's never said so in so many words. I was the same way too until my life was spiralling downward in a handbasket. H resists any suggestion I make, whether it's putting perioxide on a cut or going to the eye doctor. He goes practically ballistic when I suggest he get counselling at the veteran center. He says they're evil and dangerous people there. Only my belief in miracles gives me any hope that he'll ever face up to his issues.
As it is, he's becoming increasingly withdrawn. He's not fully functional, and all the blame for anything wrong falls on me. I'm on the road to recovery, slowly climbing out of the deep dark place where both of us were living. I hoped he would follow my lead, but four months later, I see precious little change in him. I'm in the process of filing bankruptcy. At this rate, it will probably be final in August. (I have a few fears of my own to face!) I figure if nothing between us changes, divorce will follow the bankruptcy.
I feel like I'm in the checkout line for an outcome I'm not really happy with. So, I welcome the opportunity to join in prayer with you, and I'll be praying longer and harder than I ever have before. Thanks again Laura Lee. I feel like I'm moving from infancy to toddler, firmly on the road to maturity in faith. btw, I live in south Texas and my H's name is Gary.

Hi Lonesome:
I remember what it was like for me after I had a traumatic experience. I was born-again and God comforted me. God's grace was great.
You are praying a great prayer in praying Ephesians. It is a prayer for maturity. You will mature.
I'll be praying with you and believing with you.
I put a prayer for separated people in prayer requests to pray scripture over that. Hope it's a blessing.
God bless,
Laura
