I finally found the courage to call Dr. Harley's radio show yesterday. He actually made me feel better.
He basically said that my H's affair will more than likely die a natural death if I want to wait for that. I can plan A until then.
And if and when we decide to try again, if my H won't agree to some "rules" then it won't be worth trying. (Never seeing the woman again, things like that.)
I suggest that if you can't afford the counseling, call the show. It does help.
Prayers,
Mitzi

Hi Mitzi,
I'm glad that you got a chance to talk to Dr. H. Did you mention the alcohol involved? What did he have to say about it? I'm just wondering...

I called his show a couple of weeks ago. He did make me feel better too. He said it would take our marriage like 2 years to get back on track.
Though my H still is waffleing about wanting to make it work and getting a divorce. He wants to date other people. I think he is having a mid life crisis.
I may call him again today and see what he says about mid life crisis. I would really like to know what to do about trying to make this marriage work through this.
Gald it made you feel better.

No Trust,
No I didn't get the chance to mention the alcoholism. I basically asked one question and he talked for a good while. I'm thinking of calling again and asking about that. I thought of it after I got off the phone and could have kicked myself for not asking. I'm also curious to know his take on that.
my3kids,
I'm so glad he didn't tell me 2 years. It's only been alost 2 months. LOL
I know it's going to take a while. I guess I'm just impatient. I do feel better about what he said though.
Mitzi

I called him about at the beginning of January. I asked him about sending something to my Wife for our 20th anniversary. He said I should NOT be in contact with her at all. He was very positive about the affair ending. However, he said to be ready for her to come home & get nasty (she hasn’t been at all up to this point). He said we seemed like the couple, John & Sue in the book, Surviving An Affair. She’s gonna kick me out of the house, get a restraining order etc. Pretty scary. I think we have to take his advice (given on the radio show) with a little grain of salt in that he knows our story from the one minute we described it to him. But given his past experience it is probably pretty close in most cases.

------------------
Prayers & God Bless!
Chris
For relationship info check out Marriage & Relationship Resources

Chris,
I understand about the reliability of advice on a radio show. He can give ideas but nothing in depth.
I would love to have the money to counsel with Steve Harley. Right now funds are tight, but I'm thinking of borrowing the money to be able to do it. At least for a couple of sessions.
