This may be a little confusing but I need some advice on it.
My H works out of a union hall so he had 7 different employers last year. When he got his W2 forms, the state listed on 3 of them was the wrong state. The companies need called so that they can send duplicate W2's with the state corrected. My H wants me to do this, which would require me making 3 long distance phone calls. Should I do this FOR him or should I not do it so that he has to? Kinda like a consequence of his behavior, making him responsible for his actions? (He is also an alcoholic and I need to quit doing so much for him to let him maybe hit bottom, right?) I've been trying not to let him depend on me too much. Am I wrong? He does depend on me for the important stuff. (Bills, taxes...)
Thanks for any input!
Mitzi

Mitzi,
Usually I would say let him make the calls. I am in a similar situation with my H's W2(its figures that are wrong on his). My H is too totally dependant on me for everything(and I mean everything!) But the IRS is one thing I don't mess around with. Make the calls, long distance or not. The longer it takes to make the calls the longer it will take to get corrected W2's.
I made the calls yesterday and am still waiting to hear back.
Good luck! Tax time is so much fun! FA,
Thanks for the advice.
I'm not worried about him not making the calls, he'll do it if he has to. I'm worried about it being a LB. Since that's one of the few things he depends on me for, would it be a LB if I don't do it?
Mitzi

Mitzi,
If it was me, I would graciously do it. In my situation a refusal would be a lovebuster.
My .02 worth.
Love ya,
AW

Mitzi,
We might not see it as LBing, but he might. My advice for you is to go ahead and just make the calls, this way he won't see it as an LB.
falsely accused
[This message has been edited by falsely accused (edited February 12, 2000).]

I've decided I'll more than likely make the phone calls Monday. I hate doing it but I want him to see me as willing to do anything for US.
Thanks a bunch,
Mitzi
