Well, so far, so good.
I signed the papers and H will be served either this Friday or next Friday. I'm kinda nervous about that part because his reaction is not going to be a good one. Especially the grounds I filed. (Cruel and inhuman treatment, adultery and irreconsilable differences).
I asked alot of questions about our bank accounts and was given a lot of advice. He seems like he is going to be a good lawyer. He even addressed the issue of the taxes in the divorce papers. And he told me that if H bothered me to call the police and him immediately. I WILL NOT LET HIM TOUCH ME!
My hearing is scheduled for April 14th at 3pm. Right now, I wish it was tomorrow. So for now, I have to wait until the hearing to get any money from him. (Unless he starts being nice, right!) But I have parents and in-laws who will help me until then.
Thanks for all of the prayers and thoughts. they helped. I feel calm and peaceful. Also relief.
Love you all!
Mitzi

{{{{{{{{{{{{{Mitzi}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}
See, I go away (into myself and away from the computer) for a few days and what happens?
I wish I had your guts......
Anyway, about the bank accounts.....if they are joint accounts - at least in my State - you can go in and close them out without his signature. Either one of you could close out the account(s). Open one in your name only. Use travelers checks, open a CD in the name of one of your children......don't really know what's going on but give me an email if you need any advice on this.

Keo,
I think I've been released! I'm getting so tired. I have alot of sleep to catch up on!
Lesa,
I'll be here tomorrow if you need me!
di,
I like to think I am. Some days I have doubts though...
Woozy,
Hey! Atleast I'll have something to celebrate on the 14th!!!
Claire,
My attorney advised me to close my accounts or at least empty them. H also has a vacation fund with my name on it too. My attorney said if I need to take the money for bills or food that legally I can take it all. If I need it, I'll use it. I may need it this week!

Thanks everyone!
Mitzi

Mitzi-
I was worried about you then I read some of the "Heated" posts on the W.A.W.women thread and I saw you were back on the scene and putting your oar in the water every chance you could get.
You have taken a big step in your life and you will see, as we have talked before, that many many things will change that you have been comfortable with all these years.
Remember, take care of yourself, the basics are even more important, diet, rest, exercise and like we talked..."Coaching, Understanding, I can call you at 3:15am if I need to, kind of friends"
Try out those books we discussed last week. They really can help to keep you grounded as you walk this path.
Do something special for yourself this weekend, you, your soul and spirit deserve it.
Take care of yourself,
mrrlk

mrrlk,
I'll admit, for a couple of days, I was a total mess emotionally! I was completely dreading signing the papers. Just blew off a little steam. I'm fine now! LOL
I rested better last night. The diet's not so good now and hasn't been since this started, and exercise is nothing unless you count housework. But I'll get back into the swing of things. I have my kids and they've kept me sane so far.
Thanks for the encouragement,
Mitzi

Mitzi,
Just curious, how long is the waiting period in WV?Can you explain the why of"grounds"for divorce? Here in Washington, you don't need a reason, just a judge, and there's a 90 day waiting period. It seems like every state is different.Take care of yourself, and take that vacation-you deserve it! --Murph

Cat,
No, I didn't get the book yet, but I intend to by the weekend. I know I'm still gonna have bad days. I'm trying to prepare myself for that.
Murph,
I had to do it this way because of child support, custody issues and because of our assets and debts. Plus I wanted it stated the reasons why I was divorcing him. He will not agree on anything and refuses to try to work things out without a lot of hearings. He wants it to get nasty. I tried to get him to sit down with me and go over everything for 2 months but he wouldn't. He is going to fight me on anything that I suggest just to have something to fight about.
BTW, Once everything is settled a little I'm going on a vacation somewhere!
Thanks,
Mitzi

Mitzi,
I am glad to hear you are doing so well. Good for you! I have had a lot going on this week and haven't been on much, just popping in to check on my friends.
Feel free to email me when you need to talk! I am glad you have some help from your inlaws, that is great.
Prayers to you! Dana
Hi Mitzi,
I'm really proud of you. If I were you, I would clear out the bank account now and reopen one in "Your Name Only."
Once your H gets served, he might get pissed off and empty the joint accounts.
At least, you will have money for your food & other living expenses. If you open up your individual account, make sure to keep all receipts so that you can cover yourself (in case he questions what you spent the money on).
I'm sending prayers & hugs your way. Stay strong!

Dana,
I still have moments where I think "oh God did I do the right thing?" But then I think "Hey you gotta take care of your kids!" So it is ok.
NoTrust,
I am either closing my accounts or getting his name taken off of them. And any money I do take will only be to take care of bills and food. I've already started keeping receipts and copies of checks. I want to be able to prove this when we go to court.
Thanks,
Mitzi

Mitzi:
So very proud of you! Sounds like you really have a clear head about all this. Wish you the best and also to the kids! I've been reading your posts for awhile - I'm mostly a lurker, feel weird posting.
But just wanted to say good job! Yep, there'll be some down times, but I wonder how down can they really be after what you've already been through?
Keep moving forward! Keep that smile on! I'll be lurking around to see what comes next.
--purplemag
