Our son's attorney was able to get him into court today instead of Friday. He was awarded temporary sole custody with his child support payments being suspended. The final hearing will be in August. They will have to publish a summons in the newspapers for 30 days, since exDiL can't be located.
Found out more stuff on her. Her sister says that the bank and various businesses have been calling her house looking for exDiL. It turns out that exDiL had opened a checking account, using her sister's mailing address and phone number. So, I figure that not only did she forge the $852 on our son's account, she also stuck a bunch of businesses with bad checks on her own account.
We also got a dunning letter from an attorney for Capitol One Bank--which was mailed to MY business address. I don't know how anybody could be stupid enough to issue exDiL a Mastercard, but she owes $821 on that. I guess she must have put us down as being her "employers." We certainly haven't received any credit card bills at work; so either sending the letter to us (as her so-called place of employment) was a last resort on the bank's part or else she's been checking our mailbox regularly. I knew we should have kept the PO box!!!
The oldest grandson is starting to react to her leaving. I guess he's started to realize that she is really gone. He's always been very close to her....and she has treated him (inappropriately) as her confidant, I think. He apparently thinks that we all hate her...although we have never said anything negative about her. Some of the remarks he's made sound like things he has heard her say.

Our son let the kids spend the night with exDiL's half-sister last night. He didn't have the other grandson's medication, and the school called this morning, saying that they had him in the office and would not return him to class until somebody brought his medicine. I guess he was climbing the walls and being disruptive in class (He's got a severe case of ADHD).
Our granddaughter seems to be the least affected so far.
Anyway, our son asked me to look for a counselor for the kids... I'm also going to make a "Mommy Box", so the kids can write letters to their mom and put them in the box for when they see her again. I'll also take pictures of them and put them in the box, too. I think it is important that they know that we don't "hate" their mother, as she's apparently told them.
We had the kids with us when we went to pick up the car, and our oldest grandson asked me, "Who do you like the most--your mama or your daddy?" I told him that I liked them both the same. I then told him that it is OK to love both parents...that I am glad he loves both his parents...that they both love him very much. I do think that, even though exDiL basically had no choice, she was showing tremendous love for them by leaving them with their daddy.
Now, all we can do is pray that she asks for real help before something really terrible happens to her. Please pray for her, our son, and the kids.
