They evacuated Los Alamos (my home town) this afternoon.
All my family and friends got out safe, but homes are burning, the town is burning. It is estimated that 25% of the homes are already gone, and some are saying that the whole town may be lost.
Please pray.... pray for our homes, our community, the fire fighters, and everyone here.
I will update more when I can.... I need to make more calls to family and friends to let them know we are safe.
Thank you all.
Dawnetta
------------------
There are deep sorrows and killing cares in life, but the encouragement and love of friends were given us to make all difficulties bearable.
-- John Oliver Holmes
The opposite of love is not hate, it's indifference.
-- Elie Wiesel

JL,
Thank you.
I just found out that they are starting to evacuate part of a town about 15 to 20 miles from Los Alamos.... and about 8-12 miles north of where I am sitting.... I'm worried... I don't have insurance if they are going to evacuate here too... well, I'll think about that when the time comes.
At least my family and friends are safe.
They just said that 2/3's of the town is "compromised" which means it is either burning, or is in immediate danger.
Please, Keep Praying...
Dawnetta

Thank you all....
They evacuated another town about 1:30 this morning... the latest pictures on TV seem a little more positve... but there are so many homes lost.
I saw my parents home this morning... it is still safe.
Today the winds are supposed to kick up even higher than yesterday.... they have even talked about evacuating the area I live in. We will wait & pray and see what happens.
There have been no serious injuries, just a couple of fire fighters with minor burns. God is taking care of the most important things in our lives.... our lives.
I will update when I can. There is supposed to be a briefing in about an hour, so we will know more then.
God Bless You all... and keep us all safe.
Dawnetta

Sorry I had the wrong Los Alamos. But I also know the one you are talking about. I've been there too, many times.
As you can see I don't watch Tv very much anymore.
Anyway I'm sure all prayers will be helpful and I will still pray for all who are suffering because of this fire.
I live in Calif, and we have had our share of bad ones too. So I know how frightening it is.
Tyra

Again, Thank You ALL!
Just have time for a brief update....
We are still at my home. As of 10 pm, my parent's home is still standing, allthough it is covered in about 6 inches of ash. A friend of the family is there helping to fight the fire, and he was able to call my cousin and let us know.
Please continue to pray for all those who are fighting this fire, and the 200 to 400 families who have lost there homes so far. There are still no good estimates of how many homes are actually gone.
I will update again when I can, the phone lines are iffy right now, but I will try.
My grandparents in Oklahoma are doing well, and my mom is still there.
Again, THANK YOU.
Love,
Dawnetta

Well, it's been a couple of hectic days around here... we are all still safe, and doing well.
I delivered some supplys for the Red Cross to the townsite on Friday... I got to see my parent's home (from across a canyon) and my office building (both are ok so far).
I'm sure you have heard that there were 191 structures burned, but this morning, that number went up. They found homes that looked fine from the front, but had been gutted and burned from the back.
We still need your prayers... there are now approximately 300+ families who have lost there homes. The fire is still burning out of control, and is still threatening more homes and the whole town.
Please pray for the firefighters, volunteers, and everyone who is helping our community. The love and help is somewhat overwhelming here... People are opening there homes to strangers, giving food, cloths, money.... anything they can.
Thank you all... I have felt the comfort of your prayers this week. Knowing that you are praying for us means a great deal to me.
Love & Prayers,
Dawnetta
------------------
There are deep sorrows and killing cares in life, but the encouragement and love of friends were given us to make all difficulties bearable.
-- John Oliver Holmes
The opposite of love is not hate, it's indifference.
-- Elie Wiesel
