I went out with "the girls" yesterday and found out some interesting stuff. Among the four of us, there were 6 relationships and 5 divorces. Out of 6 relationships, there were 4 pregnancies, 3 OCs, and one miscarriage. Of the 5 divorces, the reason for 4 was infidelity. The betrayer filed in all cases.
In the case of one OC, the outcome between the betrayers is uncertain because the W didn't stay in touch long enough to find out what was going to happen, but she said the OW got a nice chunk of change in child support.
In the case of OC2, both players were adulterers, dragging their spouses through the mud until the child was born. Both couples ended up divorced, but the mother of the OC continues to haunt the father's life even though he is now engaged to someone else. This drama has been going on for 7 years now. The OW plays mind games with visitation, child support, and tries to undermine the finacee's security by acting like they are friends, then implying that she and the XOM are still together. She uses the OC's health to get the XOM over to her house in the middle of the night and does all kinds of sneaky things for who knows what reason. The mother has custody and the father sees the child and pays child support.
The last OC is too young yet to know what kind of trouble that OW is going to cause or what kind of life that OC will have. The OW is going after child support though, even though she said she didn't want anything but her child from the man. H doesn't have anything to do with XOW or the OC.
In the case of the miscarriage, the H was in the hospital with the OW while the W was oblivious to the whole thing and the H of the OW was at home with their children. Both marriages ended in divorce, but the adulterers did not stay together.
This is stuff we women had never talked about before and didn't know about each other. So, I doubt we chose each other as friends because of this commonality. It's sad that among people from such diverse geographical and religious backgrounds, the marriage experience could be so similarly horrible.
Is it any wonder that there are people on this board don't want to do it again? Just goes to show what adultery can do to a relationship and to people's lives.

That is so sad. I am glad you have found support amongst your close friends though. I talked to my sister last night. She has been divorced for about 5 years from her ex, and is taking him to court over numerous issues. He cheated on her repeatedly, and finally left for one of them, whom he is now married to. Sadly, he hasn't changed a bit and is still an influence in my neice's life. This is one of the reasons I take such an active role in her upbringing and will be moving to where she lives when I graduate.
