I just wanted to thank the two of you for the great advice the other thread (Total Truth). I talked with my H about what you both brought up (excellent points) re: depression, and he has an appointment next week with the doctor (general practitioner for now). He was in agreement with the fact that he knows he's drinking too much, he may be suffering from depression and is now at least willing to seek help. It does help when you go at it in a more clinical way (minus the emotional weakness, which it's not at all, but he really perceives it as being - we're working on that) It's really scared me how angry he's been lately, and to see some little silver lining gives me a huge sense of relief.
Thank ya'll again (can ya tell I'm Texan?) for helping me out. Hi, Connor!
Haven't been on for a few days (away for the 4th), so sorry for the late response.
I am SO glad & relieved to hear your H will go to a dr. and is at least open to the depression thing. Really, so many people (including some doctors!) just don't understand all the symptoms that are possible with depression - it was a real education for me to learn - and took me years and several nasty relapses before I got pretty good at recognizing my own particular "style" of being depressed!
My counselor described depression as a roadblock that must be removed before *anything* else can be accomplished or any progress made with life's problems - and that is so true. To this day I regret the time wasted, but I'm very grateful that my depression IS under control - and after that it just seemed like everything else started falling into place.
Good luck with everything, & keep posting! I'll be checking in here.
------------------
~suse~
Rome wasn't built in a day.
Hi Conner,
I am so glad to hear that your H is willing to go the Dr. and see about the depression. He is a better man than I. [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com] I do think it will really help him, from everything you described.
It seems to me he really wants all of this work out. You have done both your H and yourself a great favor by getting him to go and get checked up.
God Bless,
JL

Conner,
One very important question. Yes, you may be a Texan, but did you go to UT? [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com] Now that is an IMPORTANT question. Nevermind this marriage stuff [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com].
JL

JL..LOL..!
Yes, of course that is THE important question. Unfortunately, no, I wasn't an elite Longhorn [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com] You see, I wasn't very wise in my decision of what college to attend. Would rather at that time traveled several hundred miles away from one of the best Universities around to go to a party college. Youth is really wasted on the young, eh?
