It seems that most of the books we recommend folks read deal with affairs, how to deal with them or some other self help type book. I would like to recommend two inspirational books that have helped me gain a 'bigger' perspective and look at things a litle differently. One is by Max Lucado and is a daily inspirational guide (of course at the moment I can't think of the name) and the other is called Daily Meditations-A Cherokee Feast of Days. Between the two, they have really helped me to focus on what is truly important in life and helped me to look at things with a little different slant. Today's
entry from Daily Meditation is one I want to share as I think we can all benefit from the message:
Rejoice when the going gets rough, when everything turns mean. It is time to shout and clap our hands-if only in the privacy of our own minds. To rejoice in difficulty doesn't seem reasonable, because the natural way would be to give up and cry. But we rebound from trouble faster when we turn off the tears and turn on the joy. It comes from the inside and goes to the outside-and that is how the spell or gloom, is broken. If we have never done it before, we need to learn how to think joy and act joyful, because the heart is listening-and it is out of the heart that all issues are settled.
I beg you now to believe that, all miserable as we seem in your eyes, we consider ourselves nevertheless much happier than you. Gaspesian Chief 1676
How true, for at this moment I do feel that I am happier then my H for I am living an honest, open and loving life with nothing to hide. And what more can we ask of ourselves.
Hang in there and find something to be joyful about, even if it is a small thing it is a start...and the heart IS listening.
