Have I got a story for you about this! My sister's exH was a "serial romantic" and it got pretty scary. He'd been married once before to a "terrible crazy woman". He met my sis and chased her like crazy. Romantic dinners, flowers, cards, expensive gifts, trips etc. Oh, he did "forget" to mention until a few months into the relationship that he'd been married and had a child. They'd been dating a little over 4 months when he gave her a ring. She was hesitant, felt it was too soon, at least make the wedding date a year from then. He couldn't wait, his love for her was so intense, she was his dream woman. They planned the wedding for 5 months. He insisted on a huge wedding which she didn't want. The marriage lasted 2 years. At about the one year mark he started being very mean to her. fianlly he told her he wanted out. He said "The fire is gone, I need to be in a relationship where there is fire" Basically his idea was that once the newness wore off it was time to move on. He denied an OW, she found out after the divorce there was one. She found old emails, letters etc. telling OW how sis forced him into a marriage he wasn't ready for, how she insisted on a big wedding and all kinds of other BS tha twas all his idea. She also found receipts where he took OW to the same restaurants, bought her the same gifts etc. Then when he realized that Sis was over him he started to chase her again (guess that brought back the fire lol). She didn't want him, he started basically stalking her, begging, pledging his eternal love. All this time he still had OW who he was cheating on with other OW. He told my sister though that he was only keeping OW around in case Sis wouldn't take him back. this went on for almost 2 years. Recently he sent her an email saying he was marrying OW. He claims he doesn't love her, still loves my sister, but since my sister is being so cruel as to not give him another chance he is getting tired of being single. He did tell her that anytime she changes her mind to call him though. Some people just are addicted to that rush of a new relationship. I don't know waht advice to give if that is the case with your H. He definitely needs counseling if that is so. Of course it also means he'll be bored with the OW shortly.
