Hi All,<P>OW had silicone implants from 1987 til approx in 1993 or so. They leaked while she was pregnant with two of her children, both boys (one of them is OC). She now has saline boobs installed.<P>The children are 11 yo and 8.5 (OC) yo.<P>She CLAIMS she has a class action suit with Dow Corning regarding the leakage that has ravaged her body and caused her and her two children all kinds of problems.<P>She CLAIMS she has Miniers Syndrome and has brutal vertigo attacks which immobilize her (but not when she's drinking & running Kareoke in the bars or wildy screwing my H) to the state where she gets violently ill and becomes wheelchair bound. She claims she has other health probs too. But no doctor will diagnosis it.<P>She CLAIMS that her two sons have problems too because the silicone leaked into their systems while in utero. And now they have problems with uncontrolled urine episodes (how about they are emotionally messed up from having a slut for a mommie?).<P>She CLAIMS that her 11 yo son's father (IV drug addict) is trying to steal him from her so he can get the money from the alleged pending suit.<P>My H is TOTALLY enthralled with this whole sad drama ridden story, not to mention the part where she's gonna get mega bucks from Dow Corning.<P>So ... my question is does anyone out there know anything at all about "Silicone" implants or anything to do with these problems and the alleged suit?<P>Jo<P>------------------<BR>Josie_Res@Hotmail.com<P>"Remain flexible like a reed, as opposed to an oak which can snap in the wind"<p>[This message has been edited by Resilient (edited August 26, 2000).]

I know there was a class action suit filed on behalf of ALL women with silicone implants against Dow Corning. You had to sign up for it. One of my friends jumped on the bandwagon even though she had no problems in hopes of big bucks. Basically from what I understand happened is that if you could prove problems they would pay to have them removed and maybe a little bit of extra money (not more than $1000 I think). This suit involves an ungodly number of women (anyone with silicone implants is eligible) will probably drag on for years, mostly benefit the lawyers. If she thinks she is getting big $$$$ she's sadly mistaken. Some people are so dumb.

She will most assuredly get a settlement, but the "big-bucks" are long over for implant litigation. My sister also had leaking silicone implants and had a child while the implants were ruptured. She got around $80,000 but after attorney's fees and other costs, netted less than $40,000. And nobody has ever received a dime for a child's claim. I seriously doubt that your H's OW will be the big exception.

FYI, there have been no empirical studies that show any damage to any person from silicone breat implants, leaking or not. i am not saying that anyone is lying, but that the syptoms may be from something else.

My sister filed a lawsuit in 1991, and received her settlement in 1999. She had her implants from 1977 to 1991. Her child had something called Hirscspri=ung's Disease, which is a portion of the bowel that doesn't have normal nerves and causes chronic impactions and abdominal pain. Her child also has some chronic bladder problems. She still can't laugh or jump-rope or run without leakage. Scientists still saythere's no connection to silicone, but who knows? I don't. Nobody really does. But no child is going to be getting money out of the class action fund unless reearch can prove they were damaged by implants. Maybe 20 years from now there will be some kind of action on behalf of kids, but even that's pretty iffy.

The Breast Implant Lawsuit was over a few years ago. My sister has implants and was part of the class action suit. She received $1,500. No one will be getting any money. Unless she filed on her own with her own attorney - but I highly doubt it.
