UBB is an acronym of "Ultimate Bulletin Board" (it is the name of the software that is running the MB forums)<P>Basically a UBB code is nothing more that a "sequence of special characters... that do <B>something</B> special to the text that are surrounded by these characters."<P>For example....if you type...<BR> [ b ]any text[ /b ].... <BR>(without the spaces before and after the "<B>b</B>" and "<B>/b</B>")...<BR>The result is that "<B>any text</B>" gets <B>bold printed</B>.<P>Usually all UBB codes are paired off in a similar fashion... i.e.<BR>[<B>ubbcode</B>]text[<B>/ubbcode</B>]...<P>Other useful codes are...<BR>i... for <I>"italization"</I><BR>url... for "customized links"<BR>quote... for "block quoting"<P>and it is also possible to "nest" into the text more paired off UBB codes...<P>Try it out... on a sample thread... other have "played" with it too.<P>One other hint...<BR>...if there is an effect in a post that you like...<BR>...you can click on the "edit" icon (the page with the pencil) of someone else's post to see how <B>they</B> did it!... just don't apply any changes. <P>Jim<p>[This message has been edited by NSR (edited January 31, 2000).]
