Jim,
Absolutely wonderful thread. Thank you.
HGBrawner and vmv were two of my favorite posters when they were here. Each were able to articulate their experience with passion, honesty, and incredible insight.
I found that many of the posts from old have been lost. It seems they deleted most all of the posts ending before last August or so. That's too bad. There were so many threads rich with information that helped me and others.
Thank you again for this thread.
SHA

What a surprise and honor to see that two of my posts were considered "notable". I haven't been here in months now, but decided to check in tonight and see how things are going. Unfortunately I see that the pain continues and more new faces have been added.
As an update, my husband and I are approaching the two year mark in our restoration. I hope that it brings hope to others that we are doing very well. The "bad moments" don't happen nearly as often now and I am usually able to work through them without bringing him into it. He also still has bad moments, but also presses on. We still have a dream of working with other couples who have faced infidelity and want to heal their marriages. We just continue to wait on God to reveal how it will happen.
Take care all.....have hope.
------------------
"They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint." Isaiah 40:31

HGBrawner...
Your previous post and replies were so outstanding...
I'm newer to the forum (joined end of September 1999) than you... but I have heard from others that your contributions were truly amazing. If you happen to know the subject/topic... on some of the older forums... they can still be searched...(mostly on Read Only Posts) and we all could benefit from your wise and very well written words and deep insight! ![[Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]](http://www.marriagebuilders.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif)
Jim

HGB,
My "special angel" that helped me so much through the most difficult period of my life!!
How wonderful to hear from you again and I'm so glad to hear things are going good. My H and I are also in recovery for two years last month and doing better than I would have ever dreamed possible.
I've thought of you often and sure miss you and your expert advice and wisdom. Please, try to stop by more often. ![[Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]](http://www.marriagebuilders.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif)

I wish I could remember or had printed out some of the stuff from before August '99....there was some really good information and help here along with some good discussions between those of us with different ideas.
I'm glad to see that the forum has been updated to offer more specific areas for people to post in. I believe it really makes it more helpful when people can go to the area that applies to them to seek help. I will probably try to stick around for a while and keep checking in, especially with the Just Found Out and In Recovery areas. I still vividly remember those first few months "post-discovery" and hope to have opportunities to encourage wounded spouses to take some time and not rush into decisions. And of course, the chance to encourage those who are on the path to recovery is exactly what my husband and I both want to do....actually feel called to do. We SO badly needed to see and talk to a couple who had not just survived, but overcome the crisis, and they just don't come out of the woodwork. I honestly believe that many more couples could rebuild after an affair than actually do.....you feel so alone and the pain gets so bad sometimes that giving up is the easier path.....and my prayer is that we can offer the hope and encouragement they need to continue the work.
I don't know if you all know the funny part of my restoration story....if not funny, at least it is ironic. My husband's affair was with a single woman (twice divorced) in our former church. She was actually someone I trusted and considered a friend. After I found out the truth, I didn't think I could ever trust another single woman again. As we went through the healing process and began to feel that God wanted us to use our experience to encourage couples in similar circumstances, I began to feel that He would use me in a daily ministry effort too. Well, about 8 months ago He opened the door to that full-time daily ministry....as secretary for the Single Adults Ministry in our new church! Now I spend my time with single women and men and have a new empathy for them. I truly believe God didn't want me to forever distrust single women....although I will continue to be wiser than I was before....and has put me in this ministry to heal me and to help them. He has already opened some doors for me to share and I'm looking forward to what He has in store for the future. He is truly awsome!
------------------
"They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint." Isaiah 40:31

Hi Jim....WOW!!!
You have been busy..what a fantastic job!!!! THANK YOU - you're a wonderful person...do you know that?
What do you think about asking Tempest if there is a way to get into the posts pre-August.....I don't think they got rid of them totally - do you?
I think that we could really use a lot of the uplifting and how to really put MB principles into practice "examples" that are back there.....
Think we can get Tempest/Steve to figure out a way for access - would help with reinforcement of the site's purpose!!!
Let me know what you think and what we should do....
Hugs,
Sheba

Sheba...
I'll contact (e-mail) Tempest on this...
I'm not sure if all the pre-August 1999 threads are available?
Who would go through these older posts...
...they were all before my time...
I remember back at the end of 1999 when Tempest was asking for people to indicate which posts to keep (and move to the infidelity archive forum...) I don't think the response was all that great...
...would it be better now?
BTW: Is this the kind of post you were thinking of?
![[Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]](http://www.marriagebuilders.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif)
Jim

Hi Jim....
I am hoping that they have kept them on some kind of back-up or something....
I remember Tempest asking....the board was pretty busy and apparently so were a lot of people!!! I don't think anyone realized that old stuff would not be accessible at all....she had said it would be archived and I - for one - thought that meant shoved away in a read only capacity...not disappear completely!!! There is A LOT of good stuff....Threads that would really refocus people on what MB is all about!!!
I think that is getting lost around here......do you feel it also?
Anyway it is worth a shot!!!!
As far as if this was what I had in mind - absolutely...in fact - I am glad that you did it: it is much better than I could have done!!!!
I would like to see this in a PERMANENT category on the Forum menu page as a read only...not just a thread - People might find it easier....
What do you think? We could mention that also!!!
Hugs,
Sheba

Sheba,
Tempest, a while back made a similar recommendation...
...I guess things got busy there too..
There definitely seems to be a loss focus on MB concepts...
...not necessarily a complete break...
...but clearly some disillusionment. ![[Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]](http://www.marriagebuilders.com/forum/images/icons/frown.gif)
To manage this as a read only thread... would require a "moderator" type...
...but could be nice as a PERMANENT category...
I'm thinking of "categorizing" the Books post...
...any ideas?
I see we are thinking more alike...
...maybe keeping a bit closer to MB ideas than some...
...we seem to agree on replies. ![[Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]](http://www.marriagebuilders.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif)
![[Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]](http://www.marriagebuilders.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif)
Jim

I've glanced at this post before, but now that I look at it I must say...I'm impressed.
Keep up the good work, here and there my friend...here and there. ![[Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]](http://www.marriagebuilders.com/forum/images/icons/wink.gif)

------------------
1Co:2:4: And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
1Co:2:5: That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

I like this thread on the five love languages. It has been very helpful to a lot of people over on Emotional Needs. I refer to it quite a bit. A bit of enhancement or refinement helped me get a better idea of the essential emotional needs and exactly HOW to fulfill them for your mate. Not to mention appreciating the efforts being made!
[This message has been edited by Karenna (edited May 24, 2000).]
