Today, W got some jewerly in the mail from one of her on-line friends, and I expressed my concerns about her broadcasting our address over the internet. Apparently she hasn't read all of the news reports about killers and rapists stalking would-be on-line suspects - and she doesn't understand that I am concerned for the security and safety of my family. I don't think she would have told me about the earrings if I hadn't gotten the mail today, but because I was "curious" what was in the envelope, she opened it in front of me and had to explain. Her explaination included a cancer patient in a nearby hospital (even though the postmark on the envelope was from somewhere else). I simply thought that it would be a great on-line cover for someone with criminal intents so they could get an address.
I can only assume that the days of being the security provider and safety blanket in this house are gone forever. I can't be here to protect the ones that I love all of the time and I may have to start relying on a babysitter for my teenage daughter for the times that we can't avoid leaving her home alone. Right now, it's too late to have W "take back" the address that she gave out, so I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place with the security issues. Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.
Pops

Pops,

Kinda at a loss for words.

One question though. Is the real reason you're upset about this because of what she received?
Maybe you're addressing the wrong issue here. Just a though.
