Hi, I'm a new member and I've told a short version of my story in Infidelity>Justfoundout>need advise on trusting again (something wrong) 2nd page. What I need is some help in finding what my H saved on our computer. He's having a hard time telling me things (we are dealing with this in counselling) and I don't trust him. I'm fairly new to using the computer (proud of myself for finding what I did find). I saw your postings Jeeper (hoping you read this) and I would appreciate any help you can give me or anyone else with computer knowledge. Thanks.
Hurt & Sad

HI H&S,
Have to tried searching for certain file names? If he did save anything, then he would have protected it with passwords. Plus he can name the file whatever he would like and save it anywhere.
Try right clicking on the start button and go to explore. From there you can search certain directories. Start with the C drive and try to figure out any words that may connect to this affair he had. Try something like her intials or his. Maybe even type in private or personal for the file or folder names.

Maybe others have better ideas, but this could be a good starting point.
Hang in their! Hope it all works out for you.

I could not find anything that my W saved from OM. My guess is that she did not. She knows I am pretty good with computers.

Is there any software that can find old emails? When I found the email my H sent the OW, I immediately looked for more but it was gone. I contacted aol to see if maybe emails are kept on their server and they said no. I could only view emails deleted in the last 24 hours. I thought the computer might save the email somewhere on our hard drive but I couldn't find any. The software suggested looks like it records what's going on after it is installed. Is there any that mind find old stuff?

If he has deleted the files you propably won't be able to find any of the old stuff. Do a search for spectorsoft. It's a program that takes snapshots of the computer screen and can not be detected. Just be careful with what you might find. It worked for me but it's not for everyone.

The best bet for finding old emails would be to search through the mail folders. If you are using outlook you can use the "find" freature to search by email address or key word. Lots of times people like to hide emails way down in several sub folders.
I would bet though that your husband is deleting the emails. If you still think he is up to something...the best bet would be for some keyboard capture software that runs in the backgroud. It captures all keystrokes that are entered on the PC. You won't be able to capture what the emails are saying to your husband...but you will be able to see what your husband is sending.
Let me know if you have any questions.
thanks,
Jeeper

Thanks for your help everyone. FYI I did download spector which recorded everything seen on the computer screen and recorded keystrokes. This is how I caught him the second time. This software is amazing. I got his three different Yahoo accounts and passwords and read one of their chats. I think he was saving and downloading to our computer though. I noticed Zip on our computer which wasn't there before as well as Symnatek (shared). Any info on these would be helpful.
Thanks

As soon as I found the email he sent, I changed his password so he could no longer get on the internet. He's not computer savy at all. He wasn't even smart enough to delete the email he sent. I was hoping I could find previous ones she may have sent. Well I'm pretty positive they haven't had any contact. I used his email to email her and because of the content she would have told me he has been in touch to try and hurt me more. I did ask him to send her a letter (approved by me) explaining his true feelings about her and the relationship. It was closure for me because when I found out he quit the job and just told her it was over and he was leaving in 2 weeks. She told him she could give him a better life and he said no I love my wife. Granted she lives with her ex-father-inlaw in his house with her troublesome 14 yr old daughter. She tried to tell me in an email that it was love and he wanted to be with her. My H claimed all along he wanted to end it long before but she threated to tell me and continued to haunt him at work. He even tried to get fired to get away from her. So I do believe it is over. Maybe I just want to find more dirt. Kinda like when you have a tooth ache but keep touching it with your tongue to feel the pain.
sty

One more question - hopefully someone can help..
As I'm still recording, and he knows it, he won't go into his Yahoo from home. If I go into his Yahoo, is there a way I can find out when it was last visited, last e-mail sent or something like that? There hasn't been new e-mails or anything that I've noticed, but he would be deleteing them - if he is using another computer.
Thanks

Strongerthanyesterday ...when you post your message there are a few little buttons down below the screen you are typing in. To post a link to somewhere use the "URL" button. Copy and paste the URL to your post. Let me know if you have any questions.
As far as the yahoo mail...I am not up to speed on that mail system. However, I doubt you will be able to see the last time it was accessed.
Good luck.

Just thought i would drop in and say that there is a way to recover deleted files...well two ways actually, one costs, and the other doesn't.
First on is using Norton System Works Professional edition...it has an unerase wizard that calls up deleted files that are sitting on the hard drive, and recycle bin. You can access this utility from the program disk, so if you know anyone with it, you can just borrow it, without having to install or anything.
The second way is through a program called recover4all, search for it on the net. However I had limited success with that one.
Love and light,
jacky

Thanks again for all your advice.
I think I'll look into getting the Norton Professional Edition. I hate that I still have to snoop to get information. But until he understands what I need to get through this, he won't answer my questions.
H&S

There are many ways to track online activity. AOL has a Filing Cabinet with controls that allow email to be saved as specified. It can be accessed from within AOL by going to FILE>FILING CABINET for the screen name you want to see email for.
HotMail, Yahoo and other email can be tracked via Internet Explorer History. You should be able to see the ICON at the top of your screen now. This can be viewed by website, date, most visited...etc. You can adjust the settings by clicking on History>View and selecting what you want. You will have to have email passwords. You can also see the documents that have been saved from IE History by clicking on HISTORY>MyComputer.
Recent documents may be tracked by clicking on START>Documents. This should show the last 10 or so documents used on the computer.
Online Affairs are not smart. Everything done on a computer can be traced, tracked, copied transfered and used in many ways.
Good luck. Oh, be careful!!!! Personal Privacy is an issue when tracking others information without their knowledge.
My Prayers are with everyone here at MB.

Hi I Spy,
I want to follow your instructions, however I don't have an icon for Internet History Explorer on my screen. How else can I get there? (I really am a beginner.)
Thanks,

H&S: go to View>EXPLORER BAR>HISTORY. This must be done from Internet Explorer, Not AOL.
