No kidding. Last night, we were playing this on DVD, while folding the laundry. This dialog between HAL and his builder, when the astronauts and cosmonauts needed HAL to ignite the Discovery engines to escape Jupiter or be killed, got me choked up:
HAL 9000: "Thank you for telling me the truth, Dr. Chandra."
Dr. Chandra: "You deserve it."
So, I can't even watch Scifi movies that aren't even about Rs??? A computer deserves being told the truth more than I do? (not that Dr Chandra ever lied to me, or my W to HAL).
Take me now, Lord.

2long:
You are one sappy dude!
Just Kidding! I know exactly what you mean!
The weirdest references can trigger a reaction.
It's brutal sometimes! Right now I have a hard time being lighthearted about anything, though I have moments of levity now and again.
By the way, the "drought" ended tonight. I surprised my Spousal Unit with some great sex! But it triggers a flood of negatives for me right afterwards. Will it ever feel the same again?
BTW, What is SF? I've seen people use this acronym and I know it has to do with Sex, but I can't figure it out. Is it S**ky-F**ky? Sex Fun? What?
I think that "triggers" will always be around for years to come, but your strong emotional reaction to them will calm down. Until then though, don't even think about watching "The Day The Earth Stood Still"! The bitter-sweet relationship between Klaatu and Helen will just kill you! Blind Sided:
"Is it S**ky-F**ky?" I just LOVE that one!
No, SF stands for Sexual Fulfillment.
This goes to show me that you haven't read enough of the MB website!! It's one of the top EN's (emotional needs) for men!! You should read the articles at this site. They've helped me a LOT.
