I have an idea for a gift for my H. He has agreed to spend Christmas morning w/ me and D. I am planning on making a special breakfast (the same as on our wedding day) and I have a few little gifts for him-nothing much.
I don't think he is getting me anything, so I don't want him to feel bad.
Anyway, here is my idea. Please be honest and let me know if you think this is to feminine.
I read about 2 turtledoves. You keep one and you give the other to a friend. As long as you both have your turtledove, you will always have a friend- near or far. I am planning on putting in a little note that explains this. I will tell him that it is from both D and myself.
I haven't found these turtledoves yet- I am hoping to find something like a Christmas ornament. Two seperate doves, brought together w/ frienship.
I want him to know that even the way things have been w/ us, that he can lean on me and I will always be there for him.
So, what do you think? Is it too corny?
Thanks for your imput.
God Bless,
Cheryl
ceecee --
That's not only not corny, it is incredibly sweet. More importantly, it's from the heart the source of the greatest and most cherished gifts.
What a wonderful idea!!! Where do you get the inspiration?
Good luck....I'm trying to do a Vulcan mind-meld with your H right now to plant some good thoughts(can't help it, I'm a trekkie)

I think that is a great idea. I saw the turtledove thing on one of the Home Alone movies. I think Hallmark has a set. You should get a cute notecard or some fancy, colored paper to write the 'myth' on. Also good idea about the breakfast. That is a little reminder of happier times without you having to specifically bring it up [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]!

Heartpain-
I LOL about the Trekis thing. My H is a trekie fan too- or used to be.
I guess I get my inspiration for growing in myself and I know that I love him and I always will. My love for him is becoming much purer, through the help of the Lord.
WilliamJ-
Glad you think it's ok. I hope he thinks so, too.
firstorm-
Glad you like the idea. I am hoping to plant a little seed in his head. I hope it works.
NSR-
I knew YOU would like the idea [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]. I hope my H thinks the same way about this as you guys do.
I will e-mail you about the atty stuff. You won't believe what my atty did today-just when you think they aren't human....
Thanks you guys. I will go out tomorrow and see if I can find them.
God Bless,
Cheryl

Cheryl,
I think it is a wonderful idea. I would mean the world to me if my W would do something that heartfelt. I think that is more meaningful than waiting on me hand and foot as she did at the beginning of our marriage. I knew it wouldn't last because she was really going out of her way. I knew I couldn't match it and still take care of the remaining responsibilities as husband and father.
Go for it. You know him best.
------------------
God Bless,
Rob

Rob,
Thanks for the thumbs up.
As far as knowing him the best, I'm not sure I fit that profile anymore. I am hoping that he won't think it is too pushy.
I am giving it to him from both of us, so maybe that will make it easier for him.
I just hope he doens't start to very guilty about it.
I don't know. I guess we'll see.
How are you doing? Have you seen your pastor w/ your w yet?
God Bless,
Cheryl

Cheryl,
Not yet. I hope it will be soon after what happened last night. She claims to have gone over to a friends house when she came home this morning about 4:21. She did a similar thing on Saturday and Sunday morning coming home at 7:50 and 7:41 respectively.
I had put two and two together to guess that she had gone to one of two places where she could stay there until that our of the morning. However, when I tried to corraborate her story, I get a different story from the H of the friend's home she went to. The other place she is not to close to her but who knows.
I called my pastor at work to let him know that she accused me to taking her tire off her car when she was at her friends home. I really don't have time to go following her as I did about 3 years ago. If she really wants to leave she can. I will love her regardless . This little stunt is just additional information along with her accusation that I only try to justify my actions for not going to her mothers home more than we have gone to my parents home that makes me think she is losing it all together.
Yes, we went to my parents home more often when we first got her in MO because I was going to pick up things from my parents. We also went there because it is much closer and cheaper because of the amount of spending she does whenever we leave home.
Sorry for rambling. I am just a little annoyed with her being upset because I won't allow her to totally ruin our financial picture and won't agree with everything she says. I have to disagree with certain things because it is wrong no matter how much she likes it. Her definition of a friend is someone who agrees with most everything she says. I disagree. My best friends are the ones who tell me that I am wrong when I am wrong and convince me that I am wrong with the facts that cause me to change my belief.
I am not saying that I haven't gone along with things she has wanted even though I disagreed with it. She is really a control freak (meant in a nice way.) She gets along great with anyone who does exactly what she wants them to do an when she wants them to do it. She even had enough nerve to tell me that I should know what she wants. How can she possibly say that when she doesn't know what I want. She has always done far more than I ever wanted her to do. That is why I never went to that extreme in terms of going way out of my way for two reasons: the primary reason was that it was not economically feasible, the secondary reason was that I didn't have enough of me to do the things she wanted along with the other things necessary (manage finances, repair things around the house, work, etc.) to make out household work properly.
------------------
God Bless,
Rob

Hey ceecee,
I'm definitely not of the male gender - but I think it's a lovely idea.
I bought H a wall/station clock from the girls that he had always wanted, and on the card I plan to write:
Daddy,
every minute of every day, we love you.
Bridgit and Monique.
I think they need something from us, that only we can provide. And let's face it, only we know them at the moment. These OP don't. Or at least, they don't know the real person that our spouses are.
I've just emailed you, did you get it??
Take care, thinking of you
Jo

covenant-
I hope that your W likes her gift. It cames from your heart, and that IS what matters.
Rob-
You are not rambling. Talk all you want. It's what we are here for.
Frankly, I don't know how you have done this for so long. Your wife has some very serious issues that she needs to address.
You have the patience of Job. God will guide your steps.
I, for one, applaud all your efforts.
Have a Merry Christmas.
bonnet-
I am going to e-mail you. We have lots to catch up one. It think the note is WONDERFUL. I keep hoping that our children will help brings them out of LaLa Land!!
Thanks all!!!
God Bless,
Cheryl

Hey Ceecee,
That is a very touching idea. I'm not sure what to get Val now. I was going to get her one of those "I love You" jewelry thingies. But, some of my closest friends here pointed out that it would not be wise or appropriate.
I HATE IT WHEN YOU GUYS ARE RIGHT!
Maybe some scrubs for the dental office. I can say for sure that she is definitely not going to get that "arrest me red Viper" this year.

------------------
"It's not over till we say it's over! Medic-
WE ARE ALWAYS RIGHT- LOL!!
You should get her something simple. Something that reminder her of you. Maybe something that she can add to a collection she has. Just a simple reminder of the Medic she know and loves.
You will do the right thing. You are getting the knack of this.
Take care.
Cheryl

Cheryl,
I'm sorry I just could NOT resist THIS one. Do you guys do this to me on purpose?
She already has something simple and his name is Brian! [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com] [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com] [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com] [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com] [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
Seriously, your suggestion is a good one. I'm going to have to sit down and mull this over. She doesn't really collect anything.
She wants to meet for lunch on Thursday. Good sign ,huh? She has off from work. Me too, don't have to go in until 18:00. I'm going to make the most of the day with her. I have the deposit slips to her love bank already made out.
When she stopped by yesterday I saw in her baby blues the hurt that I have caused her the last 11 years. I also saw the love that she still has for me.
Hey get us something nice for the renewal of vows in July. CC
I am making our son and H look alike bathrobes. Son picked out the material. It is from son and I. I don't want to give him anything more at this point. The gift I am giving him is - in my heart - from son, and not me.
I guess I am "distancing" myself.
But for you, I think your idea is great. And great that it is from D and you.
I think it is truly a Christmas miracle that your husband will come to your house for Christmas morning. That is a good sign.
Take care.
TNT
