The Bomb
When a bomb crashes into your world, things change. Of course, this is an understatement, and simplifies the actual effects greatly, but for our human brains and emotions, I want to simplify these concepts to manageable images, or order to help you absorb the magnitude of what has happened. This imagery has helped me do that. I hope it helps you.
When a bomb crashes into your world, every imaginable portion and detail that has been surrounding your world is suddenly sent flying. Life as it was known before the bomb is irrevocably changed. The kind of matter in one home may be different from the matter in another home, but the bomb sweeps it all up, and exposes it to any who dare to look at it.
Matter instantly becomes garbage. Garbage flies into the atmosphere. It swirls around. Then, the garbage can become toxic. It crashes into things and people who aren’t even directly involved in the bomb blast, and they may become injured as well. Many who try to rescue bomb victims become victims themselves, because the effects are so devastating and far-reaching. There is no one who escapes when a bomb goes off.
As the garbage and leftover debris from the bomb blast is swept up into the air, it forms a cloud. The cloud consumes everything from before the blast; some were good things and some bad, but it does not differentiate them. They simply become part of the cloud, broken, destroyed, flying in many different directions aimlessly. The cloud is very ominous looking to most. When anyone looks at the cloud, they see only destruction and injury. The cloud may hang above the heads of the bomb victims for a long time. At first, no one can see through the cloud; it seems so dark and endless. The cloud is very thick and frightening, often inducing crying spells or sleeplessness, and lack of appetite. As it is impossible to see through, many become frantic, trying every- and anything to navigate their way through.
Guides who try to counsel tell the victims to be calm, to remember to breathe (although that seems impossible with the choking dust cloud of remnants of the bomb all around). There are those who try to guide the victims through the cloud from the bomb into a near-normal existence again, knowing that restoring normalcy as soon as possible is necessary to protect from further hurts from the bomb. Victims of the blast do not believe the guides know how badly they hurt from the bomb blast. But the guides do know. They are wise. Many times, they have seen or experienced bomb blasts of their own. They know normalcy will return. They know the bomb blast effects are short-lived, relatively speaking.
Some bombs blow up furiously, but life returns to normal relatively quickly. Other bombs blow up much more insidiously, and take a long time to do their devastating work, injuring many more people than necessary in their wake. The nature of a bomb is that it will create the cloud of devastation at first, but eventually, ALL clouds of devastation must fall back down to earth. To insure a life after a bomb blast, do not assume life in the bomb blast will be your future.
The clouds created by a bomb blast always blow off. It is the nature of things. Devastation and destruction of this magnitude last only for a season. If one hasn’t torn down one’s own house before the cloud has settled down, it is possible to rebuild. It is possible to regain one’s life after the effects of the bomb have blown away. All victims of a bomb blast yearn for life before the blast. It is possible to have that, to one degree or another. No life will ever be exactly the way it was before the blast. Change has to be brought about to avoid another bomb blast in the future.
Know this: there will be life after the bomb. Life may be altered. It may be better, more fulfilling, with new, different people in it. It may be better with the same people in it who dropped the bomb in the first place. Whatever the future after the bomb, be assured, there IS a life after the bomb. How you choose to arrive and live in it is your choice.
May God Bless you all.
