Just wanted to get some opinions on polygraph testing. I have an issue that can only be answered by my wife or the OM. I don't feel I can trust their responses. She has claimed their relationship was never sexual in nature, but one particular incident may point otherwise. Is a polygraph a reasonable request and will it do more damage by requesting one because we have made progress in rebuilding our marriage?

What difference does it make?

I suggest you just assume it WAS sexual - your actions in recovery would be no different if it was or wasn't - all the same issues that need fixing in your marriage exist either way.

Yes, by insisting to know the answer, you jeopardize any progress.

I-

IMO, a request for your WW to take a polygraph test is a unreasonable request. That's not to say that you don't deserve the truth, it's just that the means don't seem to justify the ends. Take Worthatry's advice and assume it was a PA, then continue on with your recovery. Good luck!

Many of the MB Members have the same doubt. From a male perspective a PA usually causes most pain. In my case however the EA is what hurt. How can we compete with WS's fantasy? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />
WAT and Itch are right don't ask for polygraph or even push for answers if WS feels safe enough she will give you information - mine did. Concentrate on fixing your marriage by improving yourself.

Ivan,
I agree w/ the other poster - just assume it was a PA. Concentrate on the fact that you see progress in the M. Besides as someone in the field of law enforcement, I can tell you polygraphs are only as good as the examiner that gives them. Most people that advertise as experts and prey on BS are not trained to give an exam any more than you or I. tew
