I am 52 years old. All I seem to be able to do in life is be a Buyer who hooks up with Freeloaders.

Raising a child with no help from the Dad took alot out of me and also saw me through an agonizing bout with cancer.

Now I am at some sort of peace with a grown child.

Is there any place for me to practice the Plans that the Harleys propose if I am not in a marriage?

How can I meet a man that enjoys and values personal growth and the challenge of being our True Self?

I am sad and lonely to the point of immobilization.. any ideas??

Hi.

I am sorry that you are feeling sad and lonely. Even though I get the idea that you and your child's father split up a long time ago, you might try posting on the Divorced/Divorcing section of the board.

You might also want to try another board. I understand that ivillage has several boards, including a relationship board for singles.

We welcome all flavors: single, married, separated, divorced, other. We already have lots of singles here.

I'm sorry for your pain; immobilization is never a good place to be. Thanks for sharing a bit of your story with us.

I believe that the Harley principles and plans can apply universally to all relationships. Some elements pertain more to "committed" or long-term involvements as opposed to casual or short-term ones, but even in dating and friendships they have great value in interaction and consideration and respect for each other. As with anything, take what works or applies and disregard what doesn't seem germane.

You seem uncertain of your next steps in life. What are some considerations for you? Interests? Goals? Where would you like to be in three years or five?

Anytime you're feeling down or lonely, just post here. You're one of us now and there's always someone on the board to bounce things off of. We're here for you...
