my fiance and I were discussing the needs of our children, and the subject of college and wedddings (their future) came up. See right now my daughter is attending college on financial aid. But once we get married, my married income will not qualify her. So I asked him if we could help her financially make it through the next two years. His answer was that he didnt feel that it was his responsibility to pay for her college. Even if we (together) Not me, could afford it. The conversation ended with he didn't think that I could be the right person for him. Help! I don't know what to think about this [ March 03, 2003, 10:08 PM: Message edited by: desertrose39 ]

You might want to put this post on a different thread...one with dealing with second blending families maybe. Resolving conflicts might be a good one!
Anyway...my take...make it a long engagement. Get daughter out of college and supporting herself. That's the easy solution if he's not up to being willing at this time to be finically responsible for your child.
It's great that the two of you discussed this now. There is a lot of work involved in blending families, keep the communication lines open and work through them NOW. Better to do it before the marriage then discover after the marriage that there are some issues which should have been resolved before the knot was tied.
Good Luck! [ March 03, 2003, 04:06 PM: Message edited by: just a wifey 2002 ]
