...it's another.
This morning on my way to work, I witnessed the tail end of a nasty little car accident. One car was slowly approaching a left turn and the car behind it, in a hurry, tried to get around it, sideswiped it ... both lost control, and the first car hit a concrete divider and the second car smashed into a light pole head on. Lots of damage to the vehicles, but no injuries, thank God! I stopped, of course, and there was a sheriff's patrol car on the scene by coincidence. Nobody seemed to need me, so I went on to work and then called to let them know what I'd seen.
So then, I was leaving work/class tonight about 9:45 pm and my car broke down. I think the head gasket went - possibly a side effect of the radiator problem I had for a while... the head may have warped when the engine overheated a couple of times. I was about to pull out onto the highway - thank goodness it stalled BEFORE I pulled out!
Had to walk back down to the building, about 1/4 mile, and on the way down a car passed me. I was almost to the building when the car came back - it was a friend of mine and my husband's (used to work with my husband) and he asked if he could do anything. Knowing that I had only 10 minutes to reach my husband and knowing that H was likely the best person to help me, I asked our friend if he could stop over to where my husband works and let him know what was going on. I would go and try to get into the building (which security had already locked).
I managed to time it perfectly to get to one of the security people and get inside. Friend was arriving as I called H. H was somewhat short with me - a bit disgusted that I hadn't gotten Friend to help ... but when he came to get me, he was great. He will be taking me to work tomorrow, too, and trying to figure out what we are going to do.
Circumstances keep throwing us together ...
------------------
terri
I believe in miracles...

Thanks all for the responses!
Now I have to make some other decisions ... I'd already decided that Christmas gifts will be purchased ONLY for the nieces and nephews, the car situation pretty much clinched that. So that's one big weight off my shoulders ... I feel kinda bad, but my family understands what it is like to have no money to spend - my other problem has simply been time - I don't have any.
Although I got an "A" in my web design class... one good thing out of the day!
I'm trying to decide what I need to do next. The car situation is not great - I can't afford to fix it, I can't afford to buy another one and I can't afford to be without transportation for any length of time. I don't know whether or not I should leave the solution up to him, solve the problem with his help, or try to find a way to solve the problem completely without him. Last car problem I had, he was actually somewhat annoyed that I had taken action while he was away...
Anyway, he is going to take me to work again tomorrow and then who knows ...
Thanks for the support, all!!!
------------------
terri
I believe in miracles...

Quick update:
My mom called me at work today - she and my father put their old car they've been trying to sell on the road for me today. My dad picked me up at work and then I drove him back home. They said I can use it at least through the holidays!
Now I'm wondering again if I should let my husband in on what's happening or if I should just let him wonder - and eventually call to find out.
------------------
terri
I believe in miracles...

I think you should let him wonder. Keep up the great work and hang in there!
