Yesterday, while I was the guest of honor at another one of my self-induced "pity parties"...you know, the "why me, how could he, etc., etc.", three very important things occurred which made me open my eyes a bit and realize that there is a bit of hope out there for me.
When I walked in the front door after having "another sad and depressing day", my little boy (aged 4) ran up to me and asked me to bend down to his level. When I did, he wrapped his little arms around me and whispered in my ear..."Mommy, I'm going to give you a big hug, because hugs from me make you happy and smile." I started to cry and realized what a blessing my little boy is.
A half an hour later, my 9-year old ran through the door weilding a packet of papers. She informed the household (and the entire neighborhood) that she just found out that she was given the lead in the school play. The excitement which shone in my little girl's eyes; the good news which she shared and my being so very proud of her and her accomplishments made me realize what a blessing my little girl is.
Around 9:00p.m., I received a phone call, from my former bestfriend's ex-husband. She walked out on his, leaving him for another man, etc., etc. (you know the story). He nervously, and nearly in tears told me that they found a mass on his brain and that it can be one of three things: a tumor, a bloodclot or Multiple Sclerosis. This news made me realize that I never realized what a blessing health is and how life is so short to be pining over someone who probably does not love me.
I realized then and there that the two most important people in my life love me and that is all that counts. My H, wherever he is at this moment will learn that, when he calls again to "make-up" yet another time. But this time, I'm ready for him...no more pity parties for K....
