Well, finals are taken, waiting on pins and needles for the results.
The instructors told us we will know sometime between 12 and 5. So far nothing is posted on the website where they post our grades. (they use ID numbers so no one knows who has what grade unless you share your ID number).
They are also calling students who want to be called. I put my name and number down. Last time they tried to update the web, they had some sort of tech problem, and it took 2 days to resolve, so I am covered both ways.

I PASSED MY FINALS. YAHOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
Now, I have to apply for NCLEX and pass that test. Then I can work as a RN.
Some of my classmates already have jobs lined up. I was going to mail my applications in last Monday, that is until I injured my knee. My instructor even thinks it is wise to wait. After all, if I come in and interview, and so does another person, who will they hire, the person in the knee brace or the person who is not injured?

I'm at work. (I know, what a way to end the day). I still have obligations to take care of.
Wednesday either before or after the ceremony we will go out to dinner. Probably before because I don't want the kids to have to wait until 8 or 9 to eat.

Congrats to NURSE SUE. Lots of work went into this day and you deserve the best. My loving wife earned hers in 1999 after 15 years as an LPN. I am still bursting with pride in her. Just wish I could shake your hand and tell congratulations. Cheering for the nurses. By the way one of my favorite passtimes is cooking something special for all the folks in the ER. Damn, aint nurses something special! Agape. fudd.

Thank you Fudd, I was really worried I would fail. It is hard to go through nursing school and work full time, plus all the other stuff. I wish I would have had a higher grade. I know I have it in me to have done better, but making it this far is an accomplishment.

Sue, Congrats to you! Wonderful news! Funny, I want to go back to school for nursing. Would like to specialize in OB. Love babies! I can give them back though! Did you decide to go back to school when you found out about the affair? A lot of things are running through my head now. I need to go back and get a career. It was a choice of interior design or nursing! Nursing pays much better! I have a lot of friends who are either nurses or doctors. One of them was a single Mom that provided a good salary to her son! I might have to do that soon! I don't know you obviously, but I am proud that the affair did not interfere with your studies and determination! Great job! Where did you go to school and how hard is it? I stink at math and I am so afraid that I cannot get pass that! My college credits won't even count now so I have to start fresh! Ahhh with two young kids! Let me know soon! Congrats again, Ali ps. I always type with one hand because when I am on this computer, I am nursing my baby! So please pardon my errors!

Hi Ali,
I went to a 2 year community college. All of my college credits from 20 years ago stayed, so all I had to do was take course that I needed that I did not have that were specific to nursing plus one art class.
I did not know about the A when I went back to school. I found out about it a little over a year ago, near the end of my first year into the nursing program. (It took me a total of 3 years, the first year back, I took all of the liberal arts courses I needed plus the science courses that were required for Nursing, but not in the nursing program.). Every school is different. My school, only had in the program the nursing specific as part of the program, anatomy, biology, chemistry, all of those I took during my first year.
I had to brush up on my math skills, my school has a math, english, reading, grammer assessment that all new student have to take. The first time I took the math test, they had me at taking basic math. I thought now way, my last math class was intermediate algerbra. So, I bought the basic math book, and brushed up on my skills and retook the test, I passed.
As far as the A goes, at first it was tough, I had to force myself to stay focused on my goal.
If you ever have time, and go back to my original post, I had some rough spots, that were dragging me down. I even failed one test, I think that was during my 3rd semester, I managed to pull myself out of the slump and pull off an overall passing grade.
It was my determination to finish school, and not let the A get to me, I also knew that once I confront H, if he runs, I have to be able to support my kids. I cannot do that on my current paycheck. H gets laid off sometimes during winter months. Right now he has been laid off since January. My paycheck and CS on lay off pay is not enough. I have to think of the kids. I also, want things to work out.
Nursing school is hard work, it will be worth it in the end.
If you are serious, check with a nursing program, see if your current classes are transferable. Take all that you can before you start the program, it will be easier. That is what most people in my program did. I don't think anyone took a full time course load during the program.
Liza - thanks - What is stopping you from bringing that convertable to MN and taking me for a spin around our lakes (not all 10,000)

CONGRATULATIONS! IM SO HAPPY FOR YOU!
Also, Sue... I want you to know something very important. I've been putting this together for teh past week. You have inspired me. So much so that I have faced my fear and I am leaving in August to go back to the University of Nebraska and finish my Bachelor's degree. My husband and I have worked it all out. My kids are happy for me. Im excited for me. My husband is 110% behind me- he wants to give this to me.
I am feeling confident we will make it while I am gone. We will have visits together about every six months for a couple years, but thank goodness for the internet. I still worry, of course, but I know I need to protect myself and learn who I am.
You helped me make this decision, even though you didn't know it.

Hi Moj,
Good luck to you. I'm glad your H is behind you in this. It will be tough and scary. You have to fullfill your dreams, I realized that for myself.

Cerri - thanks - Bonfire - lets see, I'll let you know. Hopefully I will be up an about. A week before finals I injured my knee and now I am in a brace. I see a specialist on the 30th. I'm hoping physical therapy is all that is needed and not surgery. Keep your fingers crossed.

Hi Sue:
really nothing is keeping me from driving all the way to MN...except for now maybe this really really lousy weather. Rain and 55 degrees in May??? For some entertainment: check out my post in chorus' western movie: High Plains. You're in there...
I read in your other post about that knee trouble. Tell me more (here or in my yahoo email)...I used to be a resident in ortho in my life on the other side of the world.
Hugs

Sue,
Congratulations! I am really happy for you and knew you would make it.
Way to go. I know you will find a great job -- you will be an asset to any hospital.
Do you know what area you want to work in?

Sue Again I wish to extend my congratulations. When Mrs. F learned of your success she asked my to extend hers as well. She also asked me to tell you that we appreciate the struggle and stress you endured to earn your degree. We have both been there. But to be honest my days in nursing school were so long ago that most are just a blur in my memory. Earned my ADN 1969 then went in the Army as a sniper. After Vietnam I returned to nursing. 22 years later I retired as head of surgery. Arthritis got to me, and I can no longer hold the instruments.
Mrs. F says that you have inspired her to go back and earn her BSN. Great for her, I hope I can help. But I can't set on my backside either. Three more hours and my minor in social studies will be finished, then I concentrate on my majors. I am working toward a BSE in secondary education, with English as a major, and a BA in creative writing. I have also applied for acceptance in the MFA in creative writing at Eastern Ky U. Hopefully the fat old man will live long enough to earn it.
Oh well, to many ramblings of on old fat man. I just wanted to come back and tell you that we here in Ok, haven't forgotten and are wishing you the very best. Hey I also just have a thing for nurses, they are super special people to me. Just love those nurses. Oh well, I'm outa here.
Agape. fudd.

Liza,
I will e-mail you
Fudd - thanks, you made me laugh. Good luck to you and Mrs Fudd in our studies.
A couple of people I work with quit and went back to school after they found out I was making a career change. Sometimes all it takes is one perons to get others to start thinking and making changes. For me, it was my next door neighbor. She already had 5 boys when we moved in, and one on the way. She gave birth to her youngest, came home on a Sunday, started class on the following Monday. I watched her for a year, and I thougth, if she can do it with 6 kids, one a new born, I can do it with 3 kids, okay, mine was 4 month younger than her youngest.
It feels good to be done.
