In a mariage that has survived for close to 40 years and for the 40th anniversary an intent of showing one's spouse the faithfulness practiced during the marriage a proposal is made to repeat the marriage vows. Is this a good idea? Is it also a good idea for each spouse to confirm their faithfulness with a lie detector test? If one spouse obstinately refuses to confirm their faithfulness through a lie detector test is this an indication of unfaithfulness at some time during the marriage? I personnally think it would be an indication of unfaithfulness since I am not the least bit hesitant to take a lie detector test to demonstrate my faithfulness and willingness to repeat out marriage vows.

Could you give a little more info? Is infidelity an issue in your M? Do you suspect a past or current EMR? I do think it is a beautiful gesture to renew vows - IF both parties are doing so as a choice and not to prove something to the his or her spouse.
As far as the lie detector is concerned, they are not full proof. Not to mention the very idea just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I would put it in the same category as a pre-nump. I would be highly offended if asked to do either by my mate; AND would most likely refuse on personal principles. tew

perhaps a stds test would be better then you will at both know your free of disease.
those lie detector tests can fail. how would you feel knowing you were faithful? you and yours was the one that said you were lying..and then his turned out he was faithful when he cheated.and he knew it..things made by man sometimes fail..
just have a nice nuptial service and be happy that your still together..life is short. and why invite trouble????
God bless and may the Lord help you both to stay true to HIM then you won't have any problems....
there is where the test lies..could we stand before God and which way will he send us... HEAVEN OR HELL?? it is our choice ...sometimes people need to stop and take into account the end of life..too...
invite the Lord to be center of the marriage..and you cannot fail...other wise don't bother with the service..it would be for show.. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" />
