Hey All,
I',ve been reading and replying all day today, the whole time wondering what to get Robin for x-mas.
I had planned back in August to replace her engagement ring. The diamond fell out of the setting two years ago. I know OUCH!!!.
I was looking at a 1 karet emerald cut stine to replace the .75 karat E cut that was lost.
My sick mind is telling me to get her the diamond, and propose to her again.
God is working on her but she still has contact with cheesebal boy(thanks D I love that name). I don't know how much more she can take, I mean pain. Her concience is killing her. She told me she hasn't been able to sleep this past week. I say GOOD!
Would the diamond get her to come off the fence on my side?
I've been doing real good sticking to my plan. She has been calling to chat. When she calls from cheeseball boys(lol) I keep her on the phone laughing and enjoying talking to me. F-you cheesebal boy. I hope it makes you insecure. Sorry about that out burst, I try to control my profanity.
Anyhow, I can't think of a thing to get her. I usualy go to victoria secret, and bed bath and beyound. I'm not going there this year for obovious reasons.
I was thinking some gloves or a blouse or somthing. She asked for perfume, we had a string on that gift last week, I think no.
What to do? What to do?
She is getting me somthings.
Any Ideas? Please help.
Thanks,
Bill
"commit to the Lord what ever you do, and your plans will succeed" Proverbs16:3

------------------
BB
If the diamond was lost, may I suggest instead purchasing a sapphire? Sapphires used to be **the** choice for engagement rings prior to 1900, as they traditionally represent truth, sincerity and faithfulness. Pretty good values for a rock to represent, don't you think?
Here's a site with some more info on sapphires: http://www.gemstone.org/sapphire.html
Since you are thinking of proposing to her again, why not start all over with a different gem, one that truly represents marriage? I think it would be an interesting and novel fresh start!
Either that or get her some bath bombs. ![[Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]](http://www.marriagebuilders.com/forum/images/icons/grin.gif) Bath stuff always works. If she's hypersensitive and might misinterpret it as you subtly telling her she's smelly and needs to bathe more often, buy her a small (palm-sized or so) original oil painting...
Just a few suggestions, hope they help! ![[Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]](http://www.marriagebuilders.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif)
------------------
~~ Elixir ~~

Hey, Bill.
The ring might be a bit much for right now.
But I tell you what, I changed my mind about the smell-good. It's his favorite and I decided if PT knew it came from me, it would drive her nuts everytime he wore it. So I bought it!!
Try to think of something little. Something personal and special. Think about what kinds of things are most important to her, what touches her heart, and find something to remind her of that part of her. Something that no one else might know about her and would surprise her that you thought of it.
Good luck, this is a tough decision. I'm still fooling w/ it.
Lori

Elixer,
I like the saphire idea. What kind of price range.
Lori,
You are right about the ring being too much. I let my despiration show here sometimes.
Interesting take on the smell good.
I'm racking my brain for that ultimate personal gift.
Bill
------------------
BB
Hey Bill,
I got some great advice from Karma and RMA. I was looking to get some jewerly that says "I love you". NO not for you, I do like you, but not in THAT way.
They offered the opinion that jewlery is something that lovers give one another. Not our situations quite YET. Soon.
I'm not sure what to get Val, but, I would stay away from the expensive stuff.
I would also stay away from giving them firearms.
Household items are also out.
I'm stuck too. Give me a push.
Tim

Lostva has a good idea here. Something that will touch her heart. Hope you know what that is? Personally, I love rings, and during our last blow up, I took mine off and laid them on the table. I said when I look at them they don't have the same meaning anymore.
Anyway, He took them. He asked later when I would put them on again. I told him when he put them on me. Nothing more said and for a week now I have not had my rings. I was telling H about this post and that you are trying to decide on a gift for Robin. Replacing the wedding ring or victoria secret or ??? He asked where is YOUR wedding ring? I said I don't know you took them. He disapeared and returned as I am trying to reply to you. He got down on bended knee and
put my wedding rings on my finger and asked if I would marry him. . .again.
These kind of things really touch my heart and so Bill, find what touches hers and I don't see how you could go wrong. Sounds like she is getting very close to waking up.
I wish you good luck and my prayers are with you.

Medic,
I bought her a chrome plted colt .45 two years ago. It now resides in my friends gun safe. Not a good time to be in posetion of firearms.
Usually I have no problem getting something to touch her heart. This year her heart being iced over maybe, some of that stuff they spray on airplane wings, put it in a perfume bottle.
D2,
I hope you said yes.
I'm truly happy for you.
What to do? What to do?
Bill
------------------
BB
I just had a brilliant idea.
Being that I'm a master of the dieing art of dental goldsmithery, I could make her a pendant or even some sort of ring with my own nicotene stained hands.
What do you all think?
Bill
------------------
BB
WilliamJ,
If you get jewelry or something then I wouldn't get anything "real" nice, save that for later when the time is better. But a nice necklace or bracelet would be good.
Also... I like the idea of a day at the spa!! That is something I have always wanted to do. A day of being spoiled and pampered. A perfect thing to do to rest, relax, and escape for a while. Sounds like just what she needs.
Perhaps, you could suggest dinner one night soon... Let her spend the day at the spa and then go out to dinner w/ YOU afterwards {I know she would be feeling so good after the spa } and then if you still wanted to do something maybe give her the necklace or bracelet at dinner.
Sounds like a nice romantic evening... girls like that stuff ya know.
Feel the situation out some though.
Tell her that you would like to take her to dinner one night for X-mas, if she would like to go and see what she says.
See how that goes and take it from there.
Genie

I told him I would think about it. . .NOT.
I said YES. Then he got up and went downstairs to watch a movie. So much for the moment. Just when you think things are going pretty good they seem to fizzle. Anyway I didn't say anything about that to him. He is feeling good and that is all a part of PlanA right? Small steps and at least he is beginning.
The ideas you are getting here sound like good ones. But a colt .45? You bought her this? Or am I missing the joke? Which is very possible since my head isn't on too straight right now. But hang in on ideas for
Robin. You will find the right choice. If she is agreeable to dinner, Great. And the idea of a bracelet sounds very good. A ring right now would seem too much, that should be later when things get better between you two.
How about having something engraved on the bracelet if you decide in this direction. Something that means something special to just you and her. That will drive Cheeseboy
crazy. And seeing her wear it as well.

Yes D2, a chrome plated Colt.45 with ivory handles. Shooting was a hobbie we enjoyed together for quite some time. She named it Hope, as in I Hope you don't come sneaking up in my house late at night.
Frank, I like the saphire Idea alot also.
I think I'll wait on that though.

------------------
BB
Hi,
I personally would stay away from firearms as a gift as well - who knows what W may think about that... An innocent gift could be grossly misinterpreted...
I really like avance's & Genie's idea of a day at the spa... I think it'd be a great way for her to relax for a day and do some thinking of you while she's pampered and massaged. A dozen roses & a nice meal delivered to the spa from a good restaurant for her lunch I think would top it off nicely, maybe even with a simple note, 'I love you.' ![[Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]](http://www.marriagebuilders.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif) I think a dinner might be a bit much - let her have a day to herself, away from everybody - good time to think!
...that said, if you do like the sapphire idea, check out e-bay for prices at: http://www.ebay.com/
Sapphires are generally less expensive than diamonds. IMHO they are far prettier though. If you do get one, make sure you get one that hasn't been heat-treated to intensify its colour; those aren't as of good a quality (the intensified colour is literally confined to the top millimeter or so) and if it's ever scratched, it'd look rather awful. So definitely go with a good-quality sapphire; since they're relatively inexpensive even a top-end one will cost you significantly less than a diamond of similar quality and size.
HTH & good luck! ![[Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]](http://www.marriagebuilders.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif)
------------------
~~ Elixir ~~

I say find the thing that only you know about her and do it...
For example: only my H and kids know I have this "thing" about Winnie the Pooh. Okay, it's my inner child in full force. And then there's this rather embarrassing fetish I have about the... er, um... Brady Bunch... and long before James Camaron I was in love with anything-Titanic...
Go for what you know that others don't...
~Sheryl
------------------
Life is what happens to you while you are busy making other plans.
~John Lennon

Sheryl,
As corney as it sounds, one of the things she likes most is camping. I bought her a tent for her birthday 2 years ago, she loved it. We have never used it. I told her countless times I'm willing to go. She wouldn't make plans. However thats one of the things I promised to do when we get back together. Maybe a sleeping bag or a coleman stove.
She also likes to be pampered I think I'll do the day spa thing also.
Bill
------------------
BB
