Has anybody ever used these things and if so do they work?? I am looking for a way to help me believe the things my husband is telling me and I thought this could help if it worked.

marmeg,

I don't know how reliable those hand-held lie detectors are. When my husband swore to me that there had been no more affairs, my gut feeling was that he wasn't being truthful. I let it go for a while, but finally asked him if he would be willing to take a "professional" polygraph (there are lots in the yellow pages). I told him that I wanted him to pass, I wanted to be wrong, and if I was, I would be happy to apologize to him. Turns out, he just looked at me, quite panic-stricken, I might add, & told me he wouldn't be able to take one.

You might want to consider asking your husband if he would be willing to take one. If he says, "yes", great. After you make the appointment, confirm it with him and see what his reaction is. A friend of mine's WH went along with the idea of taking a polygraph 100%.....all the way up until the day he was to go. Then, he broke down and confessed all.

Good luck!

I don't know about "hand held" ld's; however, there IS a software program called "Truster" that works as follows:

1. Tape the coversation (check laws in your area as to the legality of doing so". Some states allow clandestine recording as long as ONE party agrees (you) while other states may have stricter rules.

2. Take the recording and edit out YOUR comments and questions...keep your contribution to the conversation to a minimum.

3. Play the edited recording through the software and it measures the stress level of the person talking......complete instructions and support come with the software.

If you have any questions or would like the address of the company; just let me know and I'll send it your way.

BTW..... It DOES work. While NOTHING is 100%, it's amazing how well this program detects stress and deception as well as verifies a truthful statement. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Embarrassed]" src="images/icons/blush.gif" /> )

Hope this helps,
Pegasus

There's a reason lie detector results aren't allowed in (most) courts. And those are the "professional" ones done in a highly controlled setting.
