My H and I had our second session last wed with the couselor. She started off wanting information on my H. She asked if he was depressed, if he could sleep, eat function, emotional frustration, feeling alone. Then after my H finished answering a long list of questions she said that he was moderately to mildly depressed.
Here is the catch, he has no problems with any of the questions. No one bothered to ask me about any of these. She said it was for insurance purposes only and that he was the one with the coverage.
It made me feel small, and that no one cared.
I haven't been able to sleep in a month, I don't want to get up in the morning, I have problems making decisions on all things I can't concentrate for long periods of time. I feel lost, out of control. One minute I am up next minute I'm really down. This roller coaster is out of controll. I have no energy to do anything.
She also asked him if he felt he needed any medication for his depression. I don't know why he would be depressed. He is not the one who recieved a letter stating that he was having an affair. It is not fair. The sessions seem more to be centered around him. Not me is that selfish? Should I even be concerned about this. Or is this my mind so he says making things up again.
Do I need meds? Am I going crazy, am I depressed? I don't know. I wish someone would try and help me through this for a change instead of making me feel this is all my fault.
Christine

Christine,
I would say,yes, you are depressed. Meds do make everything so much better. I would not have been functioning since discovery without them. They have helped H also. The affair was an attempt by my H to self medicate depression he now says he had been feeling for 4 years. They made a HUGE difference. Get help,it will at least help you to feel like your slowing down that roller coaster you are on and help you to be able to function day to day. It truly is amazing how big of a help meds can be.Maybe you could tell this counselor how bad you are feeling in a private session so that it can be addressed when your husband and you go together. Don't wait for the counselor to get to it while you wait in pain. It takes too long to get over this as it is. God bless you!

Sure sounds like you're depressed to me. And a visit to the doctor is a great idea. You need some help to take the edge off sometimes, you know?
You've only been to two sessions, right? Maybe the therapist is concentrating on him right now for a really good reason, that we just don't seem to see. Doesn't make you feel any better, but perhaps there's a method to the madness!
See your doctor. Take care of yourself. And give this therapist a few more sessions and then re-evaluate whether or not it's the right one for the two of you.
And come here if you ever need us. I've been gone all day, but like most of us, I'm here every time I have a chance.
Hang in there, OK?
{{{{{{{{{{{{camjon}}}}}}}}}}}}
Lori
