This is from Mind on the Media - an organization that is active in changing how women are viewed by changing how we are portrayed in the media.

The text is copied below, please take a stand against the objectification and exploitation of women.

The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show soft-core porn hour-long infomercial touted to be "The Sexiest Night On Television" will be aired during primtetime viewing on CBS affiliates around the country on November 19. This erotic display of women strutting the runways in lingerie will portray women as nothing more than sex objects - where scantily-clad bodies are prized possesions. Last year, Concerned Women for America and National Organization for Women formally protested this show. This year, Feminists for Life spearheads the charge and Mind on the Media joins them!

We need you to register your disgust with this show ASAP.

What to Do:
1) E-mail the Federal Communication Commission - they have rules and regulations against obscenity and indecency and this virtually crosses the line. The FCC need your complaints in writing - you need to include your name, address, e-mail, and a brief description of your opposition.

The e-mail fccinfo@fcc.gov
Last year after the show the FCC's e-mail system was overloaded and crashed because of the incredible volume of complaints - let's triple that number! It's time for them to take these complaints seriously.

2) E-mail CBS - audsvcs@cbs.com
Threaten to boycott any sponsors fo the program (last year it was Budweiser Light and Dodge - intended for the largely male audience), as well as the CBS network.

3) Pick up the phone and call your own CBS affiliate. This is probably the most effective thing to do. Two affiliates did move it from primetime to the weekend after mid-night last year.

4) File your complaint also with the Parents Television Council on the e-complaint form (that will be forwarded via them to the fcc). Go to www.parentstv.org/actionalert/fccform.asp

5) Take advertisements in the VS stores
Calling Victoria's Secret won't get you anywhere, but next time you are near a VS store feel free to take the "hand bill" advertisements near the cash register and throw them inteh garbage (a subtle act of civil disobedience).

6) Forward this information in an e-mail to every person in your address book!

The FCC will not enforce this - they are encouraging this. I got an e-mail from the Million Moms organization last friday that the FCC has just decided to allow the F word on prime time network television and radio. I'm pulling the plug and letting the advertisers know that they will lose my business if they support one obscenity! one profanity

Cerri, can someone get us a list of the businesses that advertised on the VS special?

I didn't watch it <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="images/icons/wink.gif" /> - but I will see what I can find out.

I know the FCC will not do anything. I heard that about the language now being allowed, but the only way to change anything is for one person at a time to take a stand.

That's right. We have to continue to take a stand for what we believe in.

Unless someone has had to deal with infidelity or sex addiction, they don't know the sick feeling that a BS gets in their stomache when this kind of stuff runs across the screen.

And, unless you have grown up with an eating disorder, body image issues, and the feeling that you can never be good enough you have no idea of the way this degrades and exploits women and girls.

One of the groups that is so concerned with media image for women (not included in the text I posted but was in the email NL I got) was an organization that works to help girls with anorexia - still on the rise in this country. Girls and women DIE from this disease and it is fed by the idea that adult women need to have the bodies of 10yo boys.
