Hum Hummm ..... well in case you haven't noticed, I've been not only tardy in answering questions and pleas for help but downright absent for what seems like forever.

Lots of things have happened over the past several months, and because this has been home to me for so long, I feel a need to share both the very cool and the not so great news with you. I feel like the old one liner - "whaddya want first, the good news or the bad news?"

How about we start with the bad and get that out of the way, because as far as I'm concerned it's not as much a life altering change as the good news is.

Last fall I posted that my family was dealing with some medical issues that were taking a significant amount of time. What I didn't post, and purposely so, was that the person with the problem was me. In Sept. I was diagnosed with an extremely rare form of thyroid cancer (155 reported/published cases world wide since 1927).

Except for the time issue, that's about as bad as the news gets. Along with being very rare, this type of cancer is also very non aggressive and the 20 year survival rates are well over 80% - approaching 90%. The cure is surgery sometimes followed by a dose of radioactive iodine. In my case it will be surgery until otherwise noted.

This past week I had both my thyroid and the extremely rare thyroglossal duct carcinoma removed at the Mayo Clinic with some of the top notch docs in the world who specialize in these sorts of things. (Choosing to bypass the ones who have only seen it in textbooks and who were so excited at the thought of the inside of my neck that they literally juggled my scans and tripped over their own feet )

Dr. Ian Hay - rated as the number one thyroid doc in the world sent me home on Friday and told me to get on with life - that this is the best of the best as far as having cancer is concerned. I'm going to choose to believe him and do just that. For me, this entire process has been far more about the power of our mind and what it can create than it has been about cancer. A lesson I seemingly did not learn in earlier opportunities and that I am taking to heart now.

So that is the bad news, and a small part of explaining my long absence. And of course the reason I said nothing for so long is that I didn't want (and still don't) anyone to think that I'm sick and therefore they can't come to me with questions and concerns the way they have in the past. I'm not - and you can. (I look a little rough this week, but really, I'm fine. )

The real time crunch has been the good news. And that is the tremendous explosion/evolution of my own coaching business and the organization that has grown around it. Suddenly we've grown from me and my trusty sidekick The Computer to a Village of incredible people who are every bit as dedicated to and obsessive about saving marriages as I am. We are adding new features, new ways to help, and new..... STUFF (for lack of a better word ) every day. I hired an assistant who is amazing and who works at the speed of me - keeps me on track and takes all the brain firings I toss her way and makes something of them.

So, I have not fallen off the planet, and I am as committed as ever to saving marriages one at a time by doing what I can for individuals in need. If you call for me and I don't answer, consider popping into my email. I still answer it all myself - albeit more slowly some weeks than others - and I'll still do whatever I can to get you the help you need.

If by chance you are interested in what specifically we are doing at SYMC consider checking out either our site or the yahoo group.

Alright - I feel good, but my family insists that I need to rest (never have in the past, don't know why I would start now ) so to keep them happy and quiet for a few brief moments I'm off to the sofa and a good book about something relaxing - like the effects of porn on marriage.

With the explosive growth of SYMC from just me and my computer to an organization that is virtually limitless (The Village) I have been continually awed and humbled by the number, dedication, generosity, and sheer magnitude of spirit of people out there who are willing to give their all - and then some - to help individuals and couples who are struggling or in crisis.

Some of those people stood by day and night and held my hand, literally kept me alive, in some of the darkest days of my marriage. Many of those same people are still here today - and many more have been added to their ranks.

The group that I am working closely with now (and am continually adding to) is amazing beyond compare. These people rock - they astound me with what they are willing to do, with their creativity, with their humor and with their compassion and caring for others in need - and like me not so long ago and still so on bad days -they do so while struggling with painful events in their own lives and marriages. Just like members here who reach out to others in need.

Some people say they don't read the Infidelity boards - particularly JFO - because it is so painful. It is, extremely so - but I see more than that. I see the awe inspiring goodness of the human spirit that allows us to reach out through our own pain to others who need a little ray of hope.

"What would Cerri say?"

LOL LOL LOL <snort, roll> Ouch!! <fall off chair> Stop that!! I have stitches in my neck and it hurts to laugh......

"WWCS?" Can I get that on a bracelet? And I won't even go to the John Lennon place..... oh.... owie..... next time warn me if
you're going to make me laugh like that.

Well, you'll have to just 'add me' to the new "Cerri Cult" --- I'm glad you are okay (well sort of - don't laugh yet!!! ) and back at the ole keyboard.

So, Cerri, tell me - does your keyboard have fingernail mars and holes in it too??? It only takes a year. LOL

Hugs and prayers,

Jan

In the first 6 months I completely wore of the "Vanna letters," R S T L N E - C D M and A. Now after a year and a half only a very few remain. It makes my husband insane - he's not an intuitive typer - and the kids have a heck of a time getting to their favorite sites without a little help from mom.

I have only Q Y J Z and X left that are intact. A few more that are still legible but not many.

A friend gave me one of your publications as a gift on my 2nd degree elevation. I've been meaning to get in touch - your name comes up too often for it to be coincidence (which I don't believe in anyway). Soon - I gotta get my brain off the residual high from the anesthesia.

C,

I too am in the process of trying to join the Yahoo group. Ooooh, I hate to admit this, but my computer skills are not what they could be, so I e-mailed Regina to see if I've submitted correctly! Hopefully I'll be on there soon! Thanks, CSue

The yahoo group is a send out info group only - you cannot post to it you can only read. (I love a captive audience ) We're busy at work on the posting and discussing end of things but it is a learning curve!

Hey! I got dibs!

As the first 2 welcome cerri back, I have 2 ask: Is this yahoo group only for chicks of the female persuasion, or can ol' fuddy duddy dudes like ol' yours truly join in?

No offense if it's for the gals.

C,

This is so exciting.

About finger mars...I have fingernail gouges, and the following are either fading or completely off (and others are soon to follow )

a, s, d, e, c, v, f, o, p, k, l, m, n.

What can you spell with those?

quote:
Well, you'll have to just 'add me' to the new "Cerri Cult"

Jan, I emailed you.

PS. 2 Long, men are welcome too, even chicks of the male persuasion.
