Oprah is uncovering several stories where married New York firefighters left their wives and families for the widows that their lost husbands on 9/11. If anyone is interested it is on now in the 4pm eastern slot. Check your local channel listing for the station.

I saw the show. I have to say that the parts I saw really glossed over the hurt inflicted on the spouse and the children. One guy left his wife and four children to be with OW. He made some comment to the effect that it was a well thought out decision by a mature adult. Yeah, sure.

A mature, thinking man leaves his wive and four kids for another woman. And a mature, thinking woman has an affair with an married man.

I wish that Operah would get Ceri or Dr. H on the show with these people. I got so sick of the garbage I was hearing that I turned off the TV.

I doubt if I will every watch Operah again. Her credibilty with me is shot.

I saw the program too and it wasn't as detailed as it should have been.Between all the stupid commercial breaks, there is little time left to really delve into this story. It is just as sad as what we are going through here.

Well the really bad thing about this is Oprah missed the boat big on this.

There have been lots of studies regarding suicide rates by survivors of major tragedies like 9/11 or army units decimated in combat.

Seems the survivors suffer from tremendous guilt for having lived while their friends died. Many wish to join them and are driven to suicide.

I wonder if these men are acting out of that same survivors guilts sense of duty to their fallen comrades. Willing to bet it could be easily proven and would make a fascinating study for someone clinically trained.

I just found out yesterday. H is a survivor of 9/11. He has been in years of therapy and I just learned has been cheating since Nov that year. Not acceptable. He has lied to his therapist the entire time, IMO, if he has not admitted his affair while adressing his depression on what he witnessed that day. I am too raw to elaborate much more and very hurt and angry.
