This is my first -and hopefully only - time dealing with this. So...I'd like some perspective.

I've read a lot here about couples having "recoveries" in the immediate aftermath of an affair being discovered. I don't know if it's remore or what, but...the "love" jets kick on, and everything is fairy-tale like for a while.

Is that a normal part of the process? Is it typical? And..if it is..how do you know if it's "real" or not?

Has anyone here had a successful recovery - in the sense that your relationship with your spouse was eventually deepened and that you found a lasting peace in a productive, healthy relationship?

It's real, but it is also temporary. The hard part is to get to the point where you have made lasting changes in your relationship that keep you from sliding back into old patterns.

Are there real success stories? Yes, lots. We are one. My marriage was never great before the affair, and shortly before and during the affair it was pretty awful. Now it's really good (better than it EVER was before the affair), and getting better. "Great" is in sight, if not actually here.
