My wife did her NC by calling the OM on D-Day and informing him that it is over.
Now....I know that a lot of people insist that the NC be done in writing. My question is whether it matters. Is there something about a letter that is more final?
My wife, to her credit, has also drafted an NC letter. She has an envelope with a stamp on it ready to send. I told her it's not necessary to do so, unless he contacts her. I was glad that she made the effort - and that she really planned to send it.
We're about a week down the road, and there's been no contact. Should the letter still be sent?

Yes because the letter represents an impersonal form of telling the OP to hit the road. It also denies the OP the opportunity a face to face opportunity to try to convince the WS not to end their 'friendship'. If your W wants to send the NC then by all means let her send the letter.
