The S-Anon Family Groups are a fellowship of the relatives and friends of sexually addicted people who share their experience, strength and hope in order to solve their common problems. Our program of recovery is adapted from Alcoholics Anonymous and is based on the Twelve Steps and the Twelve Traditions of Alcoholics Anonymous. S-Anon's Twelve Concepts of Service provide guidance in serving each other in our business matters. There are no dues or fees for S-Anon membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions.

S-Anon is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution; it does not wish to engage in any controversy; nor does it endorse or oppose any causes. Our primary purpose is to recover from the effects upon us of another person's sexaholism and to help the families and friends of sexaholics. We do this by applying the Twelve Steps of S-Anon to our lives and by welcoming and giving comfort to families of sexaholics.

Cinder - I cannot access a previous site from here at work - I have ? for you..

If I remember correctly - even (1) Yes to the list of sexaholics "traits" is saying the person can be a sexaholic...

I "think" it said something about sexual relations that damage family, marriage, that are secretative...

Wouldn't alot of WS then be considered sexaholics? Because of their secretative affair? sex outside of their marriage and damaging the family?

Witholding sex from your spouse?

I don't want to "label" my WH as a sexaholic - but I do know of at least 4 MOW he has been w/in the past year..

How do you determine if it's an addiction or he just wants his "freedom to date"?

I would think 4 other women in less than a year would be a big sign....

I spent 18 months going to S-Anon to deal with my x's behaviors. I am grateful that none of them were dangerous but they were hurtful to me and to our marriage. I would never have known he had was was considered to be a form of sexual addiction had I not been told by another person and, when I ran it by my counselor, had it confirmed. Those 18 months were very healing. Unfortunately, I had small children at the time and ran into a child-care snag that led to my ceasing to attend.

Try this sentence taken from the page What is Sexaholism on the web-site:

In S-Anon we consider sexaholic behaviors to be symptoms of a disease - unacceptable actions taken by sick people who are powerless over lust.

Would you think the problem were significant if there was that much use of an addictive drug?

I participate in an on-line S-Anon 12 step forum; we have a recovery topic for the week, a weekly reading of steps, traditions, purpose, etc.

It is by invitation only to protect it from violating the tradition of attraction. If someone needs access to that forum, they may email me for instructions. Connect with me by e-mailing a moderator like Tempest or Justuss.
