How long does an emotional affair usually last? How do you break the addiction? Can you?

Dear Brown,
I am not sure if I've ever seen a statistical number attached to how long an emotional affair can last, but I know it varies from person to person, depending on how satisfying it is for them. I also know that some, not all emotional affairs become physical ones sooner or later.
As far as breaking the"addiction", that depends on who is having the emotional affair - you or your H?
Khyra

Hey there B0674,
In response to your question affairs usually die a natural death appoximately 9 months after seeing the light of day. This number is not carved in stone. Some last longer, some shorter.
I have done considerable research on this topic and the only way you can shorten the time frame is to shoot point blank and kill the OP. This is not the recommended method.
Sorry, I'm the village idiot. You can't make them break the addiction. You can only make a safe place for them to come back to. It takes time and patience.
It depends on how commited you are to building the marriage. How far are you willing to go?

------------------
"It's not over till we say it's over! My H claims to have only had an emotional affair. But boy it must have been one hell of one. Been going on for over a year and he left us for the pipe dream she offered him.
Medic,
How can your wife not love your sense of humor. You crack me up so much and put a smile on my face with your remarks.
Nancy

PS To Medic:
It is a requirement to have an awesome (and sickly perverted) sense of humor to perform in our line of work! You definately meet that requirement! Can't be the heavy all of the time or you'll just go NUTS!!!
Khyra
PS Brown, hope ya don't mind me szying that here! ![[Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]](http://www.marriagebuilders.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif)

No problem at all I guess I called my husbands affair emotional. I do know their is a sexual relationship with them. It's been going on over a year now. They live together, My husband comes to see me 4 to 5 times a week. If he was so happy would he come to see me?
