Well, I just got back from the doctor with my son. We went to the family practice doctor. He said that he doesn't prescribe anti-depressants to children. I understand that. He wanted to do some lab work to see if there are any other things that could be causing it. They took blood and my son was very good about it. He hates needles. We are going back to the doctor on Thursday for a complete physical on my son. Then he said that we need to take him to a psychologist for an evaluation. Then if the psychologist thinks he needs more help, they will refer him to a psychiatrist. If they think he needs help, they will be the ones to prescribe the anti-depressants. So, it hasn't been to enlightening yet. I am glad he did the blood work though. That will clear up any other concerns that we have. My husband called me this morning and that almost scared me. He doesn't do that to often. I mentioned it in another post. I asked him why he called and he said for no reason. Then he told me he had a dream that he brought the ow home to our house. Then I came home and he said it wasn't good. He said he knows he has to get out of there in order for it to be over and for us to heal. It just isn't going to be easy to get him out of there is all. We are planning on moving back to our home state at the beginning of this summer. That came up when the ow came into the picture. The thing is that we have a lot of work to do before we can really even think about moving. But, my husband said he wants to try and go through with it so that we can start over again. I really hope he is sincere in the way that he is talking. He called again this afternoon but I was gone. I hate it because I just don't trust him yet. I almost feel like he is up to something. I am overly suspicious!!! I can't help it! I do want him to mean well. I want to believe he means well. I think I need to start praying harder for that miracle. I need him to come around! I talked with the doctor about his depression. He said he will prescribe anti-depressants to adults. Well, I need to go. My son needs me!
~Woozy

Woozy,
Depression runs in both my husband's and my family.
My 12 year old son has depression and we are beginning the process with him. He has been on antidepressants in the past, but we didn't take him to counselling too, big mistake.
Good luck. You are there for him and I know that is a comfort for him.

Woozy,
I don't know background on your story, but here's a thought I had while reading your post.
Counselling, at any age, can work wonders - provided you find the right person to do so. Have you tried this with your son? How old is he?
Sorry if you have already told us you tried this and I wasn't there to read about it. It can be exhasting repeating yourself! Either way, just wanted you to know that I am concerned and I'm sure you'll do the thing that will best help your son. You're his mom, after all!
Khyra
