As I expected, when my kids came home they told me that their father asked them why they wanted to call me, and wouldn't let them when they couldn't come up with a reason. I asked them if he specifically said they couldn't call, and they admitted that he had not, but that was what they thought he meant. Obviously. Friday night he said, "Fine" when I told him that I wanted him to assure the kids that they could call if they wanted, reason or not, but of course he didn't. I told them that he had told me that it was ok for them to call even if they didn't have a reason.
Suggestions for how to handle this with him?

THEY LOVE MOM!... it's THAT simple!
BTW: ![[Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]](http://www.marriagebuilders.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif) ... we love you Nellie!
Jim

Jim,
Thanks for your support. I don't know what I would do without this board, especially since I don't have much in the way of family or friends around here. I wish the kids would just pick up the phone and call, but apparently they felt the need to ask first - they obviously feel like guests in her house, and probably always will. I thought about giving my son a cell phone so he could call whenever he wanted, but I don't think they should have to be secretive.
