My ex-wife is coming back home tonight to cook for me and my son. She is seeing a Christian counselor everyother Friday. She says that she doesn't know if she wants to reconcile or not. Dr. Chalmers says that she is addicted to OM. Can anyone offer me any advice on how to handle myself tonight? I usually end up trying to reason during our conversation. I would greatly appreciate any input anyone might have.

One thing that I read on here the other day is this: "Don't try to educate your spouse." They see this as a major lovebuster! Tonight, enjoy yourself. Smile if it kills you! Talk about great memories only your family would have. Let her know you enjoy having her there, but don't pressure her! This is not going to be an easy evening for either of you. Just look at it as dinner, not her moving back in. Don't even bring that up! Reinforce that you do love her though. Good luck! Dfloyd01
First off I think it's great that your x is coming over and rethinking things! This just goes to show that it is NEVER too late to reconcile. [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
As to what you can do tonight...... Number one DO NOT even mention OM! Instead of reasoning with her. SHOW HER just how wonderful life can be with you and your son.
Cook along side of her. Clean up after dinner while she spend time with your son. Does she have a favorite desert? If she does have it there, already prepared of course, as a surprise for her. Rent a movie that the two of you enjoyed together when things were good in your marriage, or one that you know she would enjoy watching(even if it is a so called chick flick). Old home vidios of when your son was a baby might help her remember the good times she left behind too if you have any. Make sure the house is clean with a few scented candles burning and a fire in the fire place (if you have one) can set the mood for a warm and cozy night!
Make sure you look your best. Does she like you in a certain color or style of clothing? If she does be sure you look as attractive to her as possible.
Keep the conversation light, happy and carefree. What she most likley gets from the OM is a life free of preasure. So don't put any preasure on her to come back.
I'm sure others will have more and most likely better ideas but this is the best I can do inbetween caring for my sick daughter and running to and from the hospital to see my ill grandmother.
I'm on my way to pick up a few new scented candles for my own dinner with my H tonight.
